Hi All!

Picked up my first Hummer last Thursday!  It was a completely BASE H3!  There were NO OPTIONS on the window sticker!  Yep, I have the 5 speed manual.  I did have the dealer put on a set of the bigger off-road package tires and a set of side-steps (i have short legs! LOL).  Also had them add XM... and that is it!  So, after 800 miles (the wife and I went on a road trip this weekend!) all I can say is WOW!  The H3 is turning out to be a much better vehicle than I had ever imagined!  We put it through it's paces this weekend, from highway to some pretty deep mud... I am very very impressed!

Now I know that this thread would be useless without pics soooooo here ya go!

Brand new in the driveway:

And not one to be afraid of getting a brand new vehicle a little dirty....

I simply cannot believe what the H3 is capable of right off the showroom floor! For example today:  We kind of dropped in a mud hole today among a bunch of huge ruts.  I felt the dang H3 basically come to rest on the frame.  I was like OH NO!  We are going to be stuck!!!  Well, I simply put the H3 in LOW and the darn thing just pulled itself up and out!  Very impressive to me!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Bit more background... I've owned a number of Jeeps over the last 20+ years...

I got the H3 just to mainly do some trail riding with the kiddies though... (kids love hummers! LOL)

So for the most part it will be just nice and easy family time... LOL

Now the plan for the H3 is to KEEP IT STOCK!!!  So do not tempt me!  I am a recovering mod-aholic....

My last vehicle went from this:

to this:

And yes, the mud pictures are in fact from the Mounds!!!  It was our first time there! Not big, but WOW, lots of water and mud!  Friday and Saturday we were up by West Branch/St. Helen and everything was bone dry! Even the swampy areas... So all the mud on Sunday at the Mounds surprised me...

And thanks for the compliments on the photos... another one of my interests...

Again, thanks for the welcome!

A somewhat belated welcome but none the less!  Great looking rig, even the right color too :-)

Keeping it stock huh ... yeah, right LOL!  Give it a year and we'll see what it looks like :-)  My bet would be here .. well .. no LOL!  I'm guessing we'll see a set of mudders on that bad boy .. and after enough custom pin striping .. probably a brush guard and a roof rack ... the obligatory tail light guards ... a winch eventually .. yeah .. I just don't see that thing staying stock hehehehehehe ...  Again .. welcome ... and awesome pics ... ain't nuffin' better than a muddy HUMMER :-)

Welcome fellow 5-Speed Manual Transmission'er and vehicle modifier!

I look forward to your future upgrades and ideas..  Just don't make yourself a custom light bar from a generic chrome one.  People on here, eh, they don't like them too much

What, what did I say?

Had it been black powder coated I would've liked it better ... I just don't like the shiny stuff lol!

Welcome.  I was up and around Gaylord early last week, Hayes Township, Otsego County.  You are not kidding......dry, dry, dry.  I felt like I was in Eastern Colorado, dust bowl city man????  Even creek crossings were dusty??????  I went around Duck Lake, which is usually good for some mud.  Dust, nothin but???  Nice pics.

Welcome to the Forums. My wife and I bought a base H3 a few months ago. It's really hers, but I get to drive it a lot. It came with the auto trans and a sunroof and the extra airbags. It's sprouted the nerf bars and a rear tire cover since and we may be done with mods with the exception of a tow hitch sometime in the future. Like the pics. I need to get back to PA so I can drive it offroad somewhere. The South Florida concrete jungle is wearing on me. Well, good luck with it and stay on the forums!

Nahh .. you just need to stop fighting the inevitable here and get modding hehehehe ... if nothing else though .. you're obviously one to leave the pavement and seek out the mudroad less travelled ... so wouldn't it make SOME sense to make provisions for that?!! :-)  I won't hit the trails without a winch or a buddy with me .. (I have no winch yet so go figured lol) ... call me a sissy (shuddup Mike, go play with the rocks lol) but I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it .... Now .. of course if you do any night wheeling ... now you need some lights for it .. and if you go all out light wise .. well, time to get a bigger alty ... you can't mount the lights without a brush guard .. well you could but it would look silly ... and roof lights without a rack to mount them on or to accent them with .. that's just a crime in itself .. see .... I've even sat here and made cases for you ... tsk tsk tsk LOL!

On a side note ... we'll have to hassle ya for our next badlands trip .. assuming we can actually get another one going here ... LOL!
