I think the plastic parts all need to be sanded down than painted??? It looks REALLY NICE like that though. I've seen it on a FEW Rigs!!

The guy at the paint shop said that even sanding the plastic will not let the paint stick and there will be a lot of problems with chipping.

It would chip on the bumpers... I agree.... but saying it wouldn't stick makes me think the guy doesn't want to do it.

Maybe find a similar piece of "scratch" plastic (e.g., from a junk yard) to practice on. It would be cool to have one of those very fine misting guns like they use.

All the very best with your project.

It will work just fine as long as it is sanded and prepped right. Mine has been done aound two years with no issues.

This is something that Ive done on most of my vehicles, and if done right it sticks fine.  It's actually the first mod I have planned for the SUT. (my pops has a paint booth and weve been painting for years) USE the adhesion promoter!  After the promoter I would throw down a couple layers of primer so you can sand the parts flat and git rid of the grain in the plastic.  Its not necessarily complicated, but time consuming when you take into account all the plastic on these rigs.  If you dont have painting capabilities, I would suggest you do all the prep work yourself ( Its what gonna cost you at a shop) and then take it to a shop for a final cleanse and spray.  But PLEASE dont use any aerosal spray paint crap on your H2, it deserves better!

The hood is just a cowl induction that replace the hood vents. As far as painting, the H2 got keted so I had the whole thing repainted. I believe if someone did it for you it would probably cost around 1500 or more. There is ALOT of stuff that has to be removed, sanded, primered, painted, etc. I actually removed and but back every peice myself. There are 16 or so clips on each side that hold the molding on, I believe the dealership wanted around $10 each.

Hope that helps.
