Hi guys. I am thinking of putting a dvd/nav system in my 3 (adventure package). Can anyone tell me which ones are compatible with the 07 models? BTW i have a 7 speaker monsoon system.
My budget is not too much but i'd prefer to have a decent system installed.

your help will be appreciated.

thanks guys.

There are a lot of aftermarket nav/dvd/cd/etc. but the one I find most reliable is pioneer they have a flip out
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069681_295503034,00.html
and one that is just regular

I have the second one but my friend has the first and it never broke and it is easy to control

Just purchased a 2007 H2.  Two dealers (Charlotte, NC and Greer, SC) recommend not purchasing the OEM NAV, but Kenwood instead.  Reviews of the Kenwood (C-Net), highlight weak points being graphics and sloppy menu.  What is the "top of the line" NAV, CD, DVD, etc...
Thanks,
Brady

so does a double DIN Nav/DVD system fit into 2007/2008 H3? Judging from the photos of some users, should be no problem, but at least CircuitCity says that double DIN systems don't fit into 2007 H3.

Meanwhile, what do you all think of this setup:

Panasonic Strada CN-NVD905U (All in One HDD Mobile Navigation System)
CY-EM100U (Expansion Module)
CY-BT100U (Bluetooth Handsfree Kit)
CA-DC300U (Direct Cable for iPOD)
CY-RC50KU (Back Up Camera)
Plus TV tuner, and the required OnStar and FM/AM Antenna adaptor's.

Do you think this should all fit with no problem into a new 2008 H3 Alpha with 7-speaker 6-CD changer sound system?

When anyone of forum members installed aftermarket DVD/stereo on their Hummers with Monsoon 6-CD changer with 7 speakers stock stereo, is it true that the subwoofer will not be working unless a complete rewire is done and an aftermarket amplifier and subwoofer are installed? That's what they told me at the BestBuy car installation today. Never saw or heard about this on the forums. Anyone has any knowledge of this?

I put the kenwood P-NAV617  which is the KVT-617DVD and the KNA-G510 navigation gps.
Its got the motorized screen that comes out.  I like it better then the double din in dash as the screen hides away and it looks just like a plain stereo.  Also it puts the screen at a higher angle position making it easier to see then the double din screen face units.  It folds up in front of the 4 wheel drive controls but just one button and it's out of the way.  Not like you have to switch those a lot anyway.  The gps (made by garmin) is a separate unit.  All the maps are built in so you don't have to have a map DVD to run it.  Upgrades can be done with a smart media card.  You can use the DVD player and the GPS at the same time.  The GPS will interrupt the sound to tell you when you are approaching your turn.  It takes a bit of time to learn the controls, and a bit of tweaking to figure it out, but it's not too bad.  The only thing i wish it had was steering wheel controls you could add to your car.

$  865.00 or so.

Why anyone would go to best-buy or other chain stores to have ANY work done on their car is beyond me....they are nothing more than minimum wage employees that stock the shelves after they install your radio. You will need an adapter harness to make your monsoon system work with your aftermarket headunit.....pm me what year/model hummer you have and I'll link you up.

Pioneer is the Shyt !

Might be a little expensive but you pay for what you get.

I think Alpine has gone downhill ever since they moved the factory to Korea the units look so Cheaply made.

I just installed the Kenwood DNX7100 unit. From a navigation standpoint I don't know if it gets better then Garmin. Real simple install as its all included in the unit, no need for separate components and it doesnt use a dvd for mapping so its spot on. Also no need to tie into the vehicle speed sensor as it uses waas for speed. I like the pioneers, but think the nav in the kenwood is amazing.

I think it is hard to beat the Kenwood DNX series for a dvd/nav system, considering what they are going for now.   I just picked up a new DNX5120 for about $300 outa pocket so Im pretty pleased with it so far.
