I'm thinking about buying one of these to replace my oil-based K&N filter:

http://www.fram.com/products/airFilters.php

Anybody know anything about these? I keep seeing commercials for them on ESPN2 during the NHRA races.  I guess you just wash it off with a hose.  No oiling needed.

You guys know me, always trying the new stuff

You know what? They don't even make them for the H3.  I'll keep this thread anyway just in case they do become available.  You know I'll be the first one to try it out

My choice would be the FRAM AirHog high performance filter, PRA9778.  It's easy to clean but is oil based.  Be stingy with the oil as it can effect your MAF.

Yeah, that's what I would like to move away from.  I know there is a dry high performance air filter line out there, but I don't remember what it is.  I have to look for it.

I think that's what he pointed out to you.

This
AirHog is the same technology as the K&N filters.  I've used them for years with no problems.

But you said it IS oil based, the FRAM one, or was that just a typo?

K&N and the FRAM AirHog are both oil based and renewable.

The Synwash is dry and washable but doesn't flow as much air as the AirHog.

That's what I thought.

What I meant to say was that I would like to try a high performance air filter that is dry and does not necessarily have to be renewable.  I have seen them before, but I dont remember who makes them.  I don't think it's FRAM.  It's a dry version of the K&N basically.

If I remember correctly, it's a brand Pep Boys sells, and it's in a blue and white box, and I can't remember the damn name and it's bugging me because I used to buy that brand.  DOH!

The OEM Filter is conical with paper and sounds like what you're looking for.

AEM  and you really have to search to find the "replacement" element but I could not find a 3.625 size. 3.50 might cram on there. I think that is what my TrueFlow is. Advanced Auto Parts only carries the complete kit.
