I always thought they were like CB's, but with many more channels. I don't know much about them, other then there are HAM license plates here in IL.

Welcome... those wheels are junk.. but I would be willing to take them off yer hands for next to nothing to help you out...    P.S. I have a 2950 mounted on the pass side of the hump about to where you can slide the pass seat all the way up and just touches. I had to pull the carpet and put some plastic stock behind the carpet for the screws to mount too.. Ran the coax to the pass side rear bumper and mounted the antenna to the top of the bumper on pass side.. Sticks up about 1 1/2ft to 2ft above the roof.. SWR is ok if I leave the power down a bit. I only use it on the trail though, so no worries.
