It's time for my first oil change.  We do not have a hummer dealer where I live and the closest is 75 miles or so away.  We do have GM/Chevy dealers in town, are they qualified to change the oil on my Hummer?  I would think they would be like any other place but since it is my first oil change I thought I would ask and, to be honest, this is the first new vehicle I have ever owned that I really cared enough to want to make sure I take it to a good place.  I love my hummer :)

On all my new cars I usually do the oil changes at the dealer or an oil change place so I have documentation for proof in the event of any warranty issues or disputes.  If I take it in to the local GM/Chevy dealer should I bring the synthetic mobile 1 I want in it with me or would they stock that you think?

Any advice / comments are appreciated.

Any dealer can do it.  Take the oil you want to use with you, because they prolly won't have it.

Why don't you call the local dealer and ask?

I took mine to Jiffy Lube.  Since I had been in some SERIOUS mud the day before, the tech was not at all happy with me because they have to remove the skid plates in order to change the oil.  My plates had about 20 lbs of mud on them, which the tech managed to get all over the pit.

They asked me not to come back - and then mailed me a coupon for a free change!

I did a local oil change place (Danny's) that I've used for all of my cars over the past several years. They did a good job--and that's where I learned H3s cost more because of the labor to remove the skid plates. $50 there for an oil change, same as the dealer. Another $25 for synthetic.
