ORIGINAL: hummernewby Simple test in Texas, at night put two fingers behind tinted window and shine a flashlight. If you can see your fingers it's legal if not busted.... [;)] You can't provide expert testimony based on shining a flashlight and looking at fingers with a flashlight. Defense atty to officer on stand: Officer, can you tell me how you determind if the windows were within legal specifications? Officer reply: I used a flashlight to determine that the window film was excessive by shining a flashlight at my fingers on the opposite side of the window. Defense atty to officer: And what was the percentage of light transfer? Officer: I cant answer that. Sounds funny, but any half way decent defense atty will be able to win without a problem. Officers do it, but it gets thrown out everytime if challenged. However, we use meters here and they are accurate. You have to remember, even CLEAR factory glass already looses 3-5% of light off the get go.. so if you have 35%, it could in reality be 30-32%.
