i just picked up a new Victory Red last week and am making the mental list of things to ultimately "black out". I got the Chrome pkg handles and mirrors just for the ease of when i wash and wax and not have to worry about trying to get wax off the plastic. Anyway, waiting for GM to release the "tactical edition" black wheels to replace the chrome wheels from the Adventure pkg. Also thinking of going with black colored grille piece instead of color matching the red. Sounds alright in theory, but may not look good in reality. I've already tinted the drivers/passenger windows to match 20% tint at rear. Also tinted entire front windshield with 50% to cut glare (have done this with last 4 cars, makes a huge difference with interior temp). The tint's dark enough to actually perform but light enough to not obscure vision at night. That's the list so far.

You tinted your windshield, with 50% tint? ARE YOU MAD??????? All I can say is good luck with that Be ready for our cop buddies on here to rip you a new one after you said this I have seen our Victory Red H3s with color-matched grills, and I personally don't like it. I think some colors it works for and others it doesn't. I think it looks good as far as the quality but I just personally don't care for it too much. I'm kinda going for a blacked-out look now as well, but with a bit of chrome, pretty much what I have now, minus a couple of things I'm taking off. Take your H3 and GM logos off the doors and back tailgate. It gives it a much cleaner look. Believe it or not, taking those off makes it look alot different. I'm going to TRY to get it done in the next 2 weeks. I'm also putting extra tint on, but just on the windows behind driver/ pass front because it's illegal here to tint those and people get pulled over all the time for it. The GOOD thing is I can tint the back ones completely black and that's perfectly legal here. I would like to see what yours looks like when it's done. I never thought about painting the grill black. Does anybody have photoshop that can do a quicky on a chrome grill on a Victory Red H3 so give us an idea of what it would look like black? I think a high-gloss black would look good, but flat may as well.

"allegedly" tinted........haha too bad the hummer website doesn't allow this type of config because that would be the ultimate to play around with.

ORIGINAL: Ghostrider Here you go! flat n glossy. not my best work...but you get what you pay for! :) Thanks Ghost!I appreciate it. That helps alot. The glossy definitely would be the way to go. I'm not sure if I love it or hate it. I think it looks different. I'd definitely have to take off the light bar though or it wouldn't look right. Last night I took the side steps off, painted the exhaust system black and the heat shield with the H3 logo on it black as well. I actually created a seperate thread for the paint I used. Awsome stuff. http://www.hummerforums.com/m_73421/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#73421 I have to say, I love the blacked-out look way more then the bling look. Now when you look at the H3 from the back, all you see is dark black under the rear. I'm probably going to pick up another can tonight and paint the rear axle and leaf springs black to match the exhaust. The paint is awsome. The front looks different too. Now you focus more on the chrome grill and the bottom just looks meaner. Of course my wife gave me crap because now it's going to be "difficult" for her to get in and out. I showed her the right way to do it using the handle and just pulling yourself up, and even after she said "do whatever you want with it" now it's "well you know I use those" and I said "well I don't like them and you said do what you want, so I did that and I doubt they are going back on again." I'm thinking of making a compromise though; I'll keep them but will paint them a shiney high-gloss black chrome color. Honestly, the bars are so high off the ground that they are higher the parts of the chasis underneath the truck, so I seriously doubt they would get in the way off-roading. I forgot to take pics before I removed them, but I'm still thinking about wheather I should keep them or not, they are still in great shape, no dents or scratches at all. IF I decide to get rid of them, I'll let you guys know first in case anybody wants them. The Black bars give it more of that blacked-out look I'm going for so I may keep them justt for that matter.

yeah, it is a hard call isn't it? i thought it'd certainly be "different" but it does take some getting used to.....almost like the hummer's wearing a "mask"!! haha anyway, my take is that while the glossy seems to pop a bit better, the "flat" might be a better choice because the relative flat color of the both the front bumper, black steps, etc. hmmmm....... well, now i'm looking to add the STARR HID's with the black inserts.......black (MANIK) tail lamp guards.......still have the dealer running down the black "tactical" H3 wheels.

ORIGINAL: Northerner I would be interested in the chrome bars. Hi Northerner. I actually decided to keep the side steps because I thought of something I can do with them. Besides, after driving around with them off for the past few days, it just doesn't look the same. I used to be more into functionality then looks but these people on here with their mods are infectious

That would look sweet. I'm not one for the HID lights (because honestly, they annoy the hell out of me when they are shining in my eyes ), but with the black inserts that would be really nice, especially if you get the smoked tail lights. I was going to just put a low layer of tint on mine, but I have some other ideas for them. Those wheels are going to be nice but you'll probably have to sell your first born for them. I hope you have hook-ups at the dealer.

HG, how about popping off your chrome pieces at the hood on either side of the wiper assembly and painting those black as well? or, here's an idea, anyone with a black H3 want to swap for some red pieces?
