Hi guys...unfortunately when you use FireFox the first thing I have to do is put in a smiley so I can type...I'll expound on that another time.  Anyway...

My questions surround replacing the base radio and sound system in my H3.  From my previous vehicle I have an Alpine 4-channel amplifier and a set of Alpine type-E 10" subwoofers.  Originally my plan was to get another sub amp, put new seperates in all the doors and install a touch-screen nav/dvd/cd system in the dash.  However, with all the OnStar functionality...I'm wondering whether it's really what I want to do.  I want to be able to use the OnStar, phone, etc...and I want to retain all the factory chimes, etc...

Who has done what???  It appears to me that I need to buy at least two adapters to go that route.  I do not like the sound of the factory setup at all...and frankly bought this truck thinking I could replace it all.  I contacted Crutchfield...and they have no information on the vehicle at all!?

I think I found (on here) that 6 3/4" speakers will fit all four doors...so that is a plus.  However, I'm wondering if anyone has wiring adapters for those locations???  I'm not a fan of cutting wires.

I guess in my mind's eye, I thought I might just go like I had in the Ram...get a head unit with 25 or so wrms and a built in crossover so I can high-pass the head units output and then add my subs off of my amp I already have.  It just seems like the various kits, mounts, etc...make it a losing proposition!?  I don't really sweat the expense too much...but I'm not a fan of blowing out money just to do so.

Also, has anybody used one of those GM-specific convertors to four line-level outputs??  I had even thought of  retaining the factory head unit (and therefore all the OnStar-ness) and just putting in amplification and good speakers.

I also want Sirius...have found on Ebay the full kit for under $100.

Thoughts????????  I would LOVE to see some pics, too!!  Thanks in advance!

Alot to read  but from what I did read, you can get PAC modules for all of your needs.

I have the Steering Wheel Module, OnStar Module and Chime Module. Everything works like OEM!!!
