Tire Age Question

Mr_Pat -> Tire Age Question (6/7/2007 9:30:53 PM)

Ok today I picked up a set of 5 BFG 35" MT from the local guy. I noticed one tire was a little dirtier then the other. When I got home I see that four tires where made in 07 and the 5th tire was make in 05. Should I return the 05 and demand a 07 tire or do you think it wont make a diferance. These 35's will be take offs and I will only have em on when I go 4x4.

Since it appears that you already know how to ascertain the DOM from the DOT code, I would ask the BFG tire dealer to replace the older tire with once which was manufactured in 2007. If you happen to lose your receipt when it's time to present that particular tire for warranty, then they will base the warranty on the DOM (as well as on remaining usable tread depth - depends upon what type of warranty you are seeking) if you cannot prove the actual date of purchase. This is especially true for tires which are presented for weather checking/premature sidewall cracking conditions. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Just got back and told the 4 tires were '07 and one was 05 and I wanted to exchange the one, and they said NP.  New tire will be in wendsday

That's Good!! Not that you'd probably have a problem with the '05, but it's always good to get WHAT YOU EXPECTED!!
