...told them about the issue i've noticed when driving hot weather 45+ minutes and he said he had never heard of it...

Oh, he will.  And soon I'm guessing.
I called my dealer service about it yesterday and they, ironically, were in the midst of encountering their first experience with this issue.  They immediately diagnosed an issue with the steering shaft, replaced it, and Voila!- problem NOT solved.
I emailed the service manager the link to this thread and they were going to call GM as well.  He mentioned they had at least one other person call about the same issue in the last few days.  These are all '07s that are now experiencing the hot weather for the first time, and all of a sudden, multiple people with the exact same issue.

Now it's just a question of how quicly GM will get the new replacements out.  Soon I hope.  I know with mine, especially in the last few days (hot as hell here), once it starts "clunking", it gets progressively worse and will start to drive you crazy.

OK Ladies and Gentlemen of the forum.

Far be it from me to dig up a dead horse (yes, I just made that up), but this is the same problem I have been b!tching on the forum about for what, the past year? Remember when everybody and their mother has been telling me "Sorry, but there's no problem."  This sure as hell sounds like what I've been dealing with for over a year.  [:@]  This is just what I need to prove there is a problem.  DOH! again [:@]  I think it's about time I start following the footsteps of Sarah and keep on them until it's fixed [:@]

And HummerMike, it's nothing personal [:D]

I just talked to Mike via Email.  FINALLY.  DOH! 1 painful year of this.  I told how many people that my driveshaft was loose and nobody listened.  I'm relieved and very pissed off all at the same time lol.  One noise down, one jerky problem to go [:D]

HummerGuy -> RE: Front-end Rattle...Any Suggestions? (6/29/2007 12:34:03 PM)

I just talked to Mike on the phone.  He told me GM is currently working on a replacement part and do not have it ready for distribution yet.  Hopefully, it should be ready by mid to end of July.

I'm still really pissed that I've been dealing with this for a year and have been told its normal wear and tear, but then again, I have more miles on mine then most people and I guess it was just a matter of time before they realized there WAS a problem.  Still, you can't blame me.  I mean I have been to the dealer who knows how many times, wasted time and money doing it, etc.  Well, the important thing is it will be fixed, it's ok for now, and after a year of going back and forth to the service departments, I'll finally have a solution.  DOH!

[:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]

OK, I'll shut up............... [:@]

H3PR -> RE: Front-end Rattle...Any Suggestions? (6/30/2007 8:08:13 AM)

Well, I'm glad that the front-end/drive shaft ratle problem is getting addressed by the dealers, as they should.  Anyway, the ratle feeling while driving, specially on my work home from work is torturing.   It reminds me of my first car  (76' Ford Pinto, olive green w/green vinil top,  four cilinders - four speed, AM radio, oh ! and no AC). The sensation created by driving that piece of *%^*/[:'(]  is repeating itself just like history.   I can't wait to have my 07'  H3 repaired. [may the Force be with us]

iflyswa -> RE: Front-end Rattle...Any Suggestions? (7/2/2007 3:15:35 PM)

Thought I would comment on the sterring column issue on my '06 H3, I picked up my H3 today from having it's first oil change, check out the steering gas/brake pedal noise issue (even know it seems to be most prevelant in the '07's but I was definitely feeling it in my '06, and replace my battery because the battery went dead after sitting for more than 24hrs.  Keep in mind I just bought it, less than 3K miles.  They said they did also feel the vibrations and they replaced the lower steering column which resolved the issue...for now.  As I've read most of the other posts here, it's only temporary, but oh well.  They did it while getting some other items addressed so we'll see I guess.  BUT it's gotta go back in the shop now after driving it 3 miles, when I turn the car off, take the key out, open the door, the radio doesn't shut off, I have to reach over and open the pass. side door to shut it off.  Back in the shop.  This vehicle has been in the shop now longer than I've had it on the road.  Blown actuator motor, transfer case, dead battery, TPM issues, re-occurance of serv. stab errors, steering colum issues, and now electrical problems.  Ugh...I'm starting to have a bad feeling.  Love the car, love how it looks and handles, getting almost 20 mpg, got a smokin deal on it, but the quality is really starting to worry me.

iflyswa -> RE: Front-end Rattle...Any Suggestions? (7/2/2007 3:20:04 PM)

Oh I forgot to add that they also said the had to remove my Inilex GPS tracking system b/c it was causing a negative drain on my battery.  *sigh*.  I actually used that, paid for it in the cost of the vehicle, and paid monthly for it.  So..at that point I called the Service Manager and he's going to look into all this and get back to me.  I am going to call Hummer today and start a file and have everything documented of all my issues.  I recommend this for everyone, my step-father is the service manager at the hummer dealership in Indy and he said to do this.

dmb7280 -> RE: Front-end Rattle...Any Suggestions? (7/2/2007 3:50:41 PM)

dude, w/ all of those problems, maybe you should start pushing for a replacement.  that's lemon-like.  i'm literally one more b.s. problem away from doing that myself, and i haven't had nearly the # of problems you have had...but possibly more severe (i.e. bolt lodged in the valve of cylinder #3).  i just don't understand how reliability can be an issue on a vehicle this expensive.  why skate on the easy sh!t?  you can't tell me they didnt know about the steering shaft before they released for sale.  so it takes an extra 5 days per vehicle to tighten the nuts a little tighter or the wiring a little snugger.  so frustrating!!!  i guess they're just banking on the beginning of that 5th year when the warranties run out.  start investing in GM b/c their stock is going to sky-rocket come 2010-11.  ha!

good luck...

When I picked up my new H3 it came with a bad battery. It sounds like yours is going bad. Per the service technician, the Inilex has a separate battery that feeds off of the main battery. If the Inilex battery needs charging, it pulls from the main battery. If your main battery is weak then you will truly have a battery drain and your H3 won't start.

I have the Inilex in my H3 (don't use it, didn't pay for it) and since my battery replacement it has not been an issue. And are they pulling the Inilex from every Hummer that they installed it in? Why would yours be different?

Since you're in PHX-did you buy from Lund or Legends? Lund was where I got my H3 and they take good care of me with their service.

iflyswa -> RE: Front-end Rattle...Any Suggestions? (7/3/2007 8:21:38 AM)

I don't think they are pulling the Iniliex from every hummer, but after talking to the Service Director they are disconnecting it on certain H3's that are causing a drain on the battery, and reimburing the customer the $1695 they charge for it that was included in the vehicle.  I do believe that if they hook it back up, with the new battery they put it now, it won't be a problem.  I am going to take it back in to fix the door problem and put the inilex back in, or tell them to reimburse me.  I believe with the Inilex in, it was pulling 153 amps and when disconnecting it, only 53 amps were being pulled from the battery.

I bought from Kachina Caddilac/Hummer/Saab on Scottsdale Rd., who I think owns Lund.  They have always been good to me sales and service, no complaints there, just the frustration with all the problems with the new vehicle, not their fault.

iflyswa -> RE: Front-end Rattle...Any Suggestions? (7/3/2007 10:19:38 AM)

i know this is getting off-topic, but wanted to update on what alrock and I were talking about.  Dealership called and they are going to install a new upgraded version of the Inilex pod that doesn't drain off the battery as much, and fix the door sensor issue on Thurs.

With regards to the lower steering column rattling issue.  I will have to say that I am no longer getting the weird vibrations/clicking noise in my brake and gas pedal anymore after the replacement.  It was probably upwards of 115 degrees here and I live 45 miles from my work, and no vibrations.   I will say thought that I notice a sort of clunking or rattling when I go over big bumps/potholes, etc.. but feel nothing in steering wheel, or pedals, just audible noise.  Oh well...  Win some, lose some, I guess.  It just sounds "cheap", ya know?  Also there is more "play" in the steering wheel when driving straight now.

Hummer III -> RE: Front-end Rattle...Any Suggestions? (7/3/2007 11:02:18 PM)

I have my h3 with 380 miles , I was stuck in traffic this afternoon for a little over an hour in temperature of 102 degrees with my AC going all the time. I began to experience the same problem . I felt a thump on the brake pedal everytime I put pressure. I will call H3 dealer on July 5th 2007

dmb7280 -> RE: Front-end Rattle...Any Suggestions? (7/4/2007 7:41:11 AM)

sorry to hear it, but welcome to the club...[:o]

WHITEHUMMERH3 -> RE: Front-end Rattle...Any Suggestions? (7/4/2007 11:59:41 PM)

I am so glad I found this.  I've had this problem for about 2 months now.  I've taken my 2007 H3 to the dealer twice for this problem.  They keep telling me the noise is because I had nerf bars installed.  I live in Yuma AZ it gets pretty darn hot here it was 117 today.  So if this problem gets worst when it's hot no wonder I hear the rattle noise VERY ofter.  It's pretty upsetting to have a 2007 car making all that noise.  I am going to print all the messages and take them to the dealer tomorrow.

Thank you [;)]

iflyswa -> RE: Front-end Rattle...Any Suggestions? (7/6/2007 10:31:33 AM)

my sales guy put me in a brand new 07 h3 w/ 300 miles on it while mine is getting the upgraded inilex, and I have to tell you that that steering wheel/brake/gas pedals rattles and shakes LIKE CRAZY.  Drove me nuts just driving it around yesterday and today.  Mine was never that bad.  I mean its unbearable, they need to do something about that problem.  The thing is brand-spakin-new.  Even my wife said while driving it said it's bugging the Sh** out of her.  He called me this morning and said he's going to run out to my work with a Cad. CTS and swap me for the H3 b/c they just sold it.  I was like..hey you might want to have them check out the steering issue, you'll know when you start driving it, and the Serv TPM lights I was getting on it.  [sm=smiley5.gif][sm=smiley5.gif] Geez....

I have to say that I still love my H3.  I fell in love with the H3's as soon as they came out.  It's a great looking car.
