Hello all!

I just picked up my tactical H3 yesterday with 8 miles and needless to say, I am plagued with this shaft issue. I will call them in the morning. For Hummer not to disclose this issue to me made me feel like I got "shafted". I bought mine at Mcginnis, is that where you got yours serviced in Houston? Anyone I should speak to that is knowledgeable?

It looks like you got yours serviced at demontrond. Mcginnis is closer to my house. Has anyone in Houston serviced theirs at Mcginnis in I-10?

I spoke to Don @ Mcginnis and he stated that their is no replacement part for the vehicle. He is instructed to replace it with an existing one. How is this the case when others here have recieved the part? Gotta reread this thread and call him back.

I heard there was a TSB put out by GM on this issue, but I can't find it listed online anywhere.  Can somone confirm the TSB number?

TacticalH3- The below has been posted several times previously in this thread, but I realize reading through thye whole thing is a pain, so here you go.

The NEW part # is 25900714 - Shaft - Lower Steering

GM Bulletin #07-02-45-006

Now call McGinnis(sp?) and update them on the info THEY should be updating YOU on.

I know I have already vented elsewhere in the thread about this, but I can't believe the utter stupidity and lack of knowledge at so many dealerships.  That ANY dealer, after the length of time this issue has been occuring widespread, would not know about the new lower shaft replacement is beyond me.  That any dealer at this point would sell an H3 w/o knowing that the lower shaft needs replacement is beyond me. 
Dealers need to start requiring that at least one person on staff be responsible for researching forum threads related to the vehicles they sell.  My dealer was on top of the issue once it became more widely noticed by local H3 owners, but when I forst mentioned it to them, I had to point them to this thread so they would know what the hell I was talking about.

Thank you greenshirt for your help! I left a message on his voicemail. This Don is suppose to be the man at this dealership. He stated that there is no replacement part from GM. GM instructed him to replace it with existing ones. He stated that it fixes the problem half of the time. <---This was my first conversation with him. I then called him again and left a voicemail message on his phone about the part number, I did not know the TSB number at this time. I am still waiting for his call.

BTW: This is my first domestic...lol. Needless to say, it's falling apart with only 200 miles on it. I do like it but I do not know how much longer I will be able to stand it.

IMO, he's not "the man" if he honestly doesn't know about this issue.  The info he's giving you is several months old.  It became obvious very early on after the issue was discovered that replacement with the old shaft assembly was not going to fix the problem.  Hence the new lower shaft that has been avail now for at least a month.
He is either incapable of doing his job properly, or he is not being honest with you.  Either is unacceptable.
I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but the odds are not in his favor.

I just got a voicemail from him. The part number that I provided him is not the final fix. That is the part number that you provided me. I did not provide him with the TSB# at the time because I did not know it. He stated that, the part number I provided is what they use. This part number only fixes half of the H3's that they do. He stated that we need to take the 1st step in replacing the shaft with the part number you provided and wait for the redesigned part. Does this make sense to you?

Wow.
That is all I can say.

If I were you, I would think twice about dealing with him, as well as that dealership altogether.
You need to give him the bulletin #, as well as suggest that he call GM about this.  If he were competent, he would have already done these things and found out that the part # (the one I listed above) is for the new part.  Someone much earlier in this thread mentioned that GM may have decided to use the same part #, even though they redesigned the lower shaft.
Either way, it is the correct part #.  I'm looking at the invoice from my dealer as I type this and that is the correct #.
The other option for you is just to agree that you should replace with the old (now non-existing) lower shaft and allow him to remain ignorant about it.  It's funny- I bet his 50/50 success rate is because half of the fixes they've performed were with the old part, and the other half have been with the new, all w/o him even knowing.

I am hoping this is the case. I will call another dealer to check his credibility. Can someone verify is the new part number is the same as the old part number?

I am already attempting to verify this for you- whether the part # is the old one, or is a brand new # doesn't matter.  The part # listed above IS the correct part #.  It is on my invoive.

I am sure you are right. The SA at McGinnis stated that is the part# he is using. It only fixes half of the H3s. I have not called another dealer yet. He also stated that this is not the final fix. Dunno why.

TH3,congrats on the purchace! 

if you bought the h3 from them i would highly suggest you remind the "stealership" about the dealer survey you will be receiving from Hummer in a few weeks, in which YOU get to grade their service and list your general comments about them from which you are having to chase them down and give them the TSB's that they should already have there. but judging by the service you are getting or lack of i would go to another hummer dealer and get the waranty work done, or at least get them to get your "stealerships" head out of their arse. (i ended up traveling 60 miles more to do business with Moore Hummer in richmond va. than deal with Hall Hummer in va. beach who didnt seem to want my business bc i was in cut off shorts and t shirt)
