Has anyone had to have their brakes done yet on their 2006 H3??? I am taking mine in tomorrow for the dealer to look at. I had a local shop look at them earlier this week because I have had a pulsating feeling everytime I apply my foot to the brakes. The guy who looked at it said the rotors are bad and the weird thing is the back rotors are worse than the front. I called the dealer and told him the issue and when I told him I only had 18k on my truck he was shocked. I don't know what they plan on doing tomorrow when I take it in, but I was told by two different shops that parts for these are not even out yet and they would have to use aftermarket parts and it would take 4-5 days just to get the parts in....this is if the dealer doesn't take care of this....and they better or we're going to have an issue. I don't ride my brakes and 90% of my driving is on the freeway. I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow. They asked me to leave the truck there for the day.

the warpage comes from heat in the brakes and mostly from hittin the brakes hard like panic stops or just waiting to the last minute to stop and because the H3 is heavy it makes the warpage worse. i bet u dont need a set of brake pads yet but just have warped the rotors . it would be best to change the pads out and turn the rotors on a brake lathe to true them back up but i have just turned the rotors and hit the pads w/ a sanding disk to get them smooth but being they are under warranty i would suggest a new pad set . let us know what happens gl

I was told by the dealer that is was not covered under warranty when I spoke to him on the phone to schedule an appointment, but hopefully it will be. I guess my worry is that the back are worse than the front. Why is that? And no Dennis I don't drive with two feet. The guy who originally looked at them didn't seem to think this was a normal wear problem.

Rotors should be covered under warranty if they are out of round. What alot of people don't realize is that if you sit in traffic for long periods of time with your foot on the brakes it makes a hot spot on the rotor where the hot pad sits.

Our H3 is at the 18k mile mark too with mainly highway driving but we still pad left and the brakes still feel good. I know that brake jobs are considered maintanence and are typically not covered under warranty. I wonder if this is still the case if your pads are not worn out but you have uneven wear on your rotors? Could this be considered a defect and covered under warranty? I'd ask the dealer. Rotors usually last through a set of pads or two. I'd be pissed if I had to pay for new rotors when my pads are only halfway through their expected life.

Brakes are 12/12 on the H3. Even the rotors. If you have a nice dealer, they'll warranty the bake job for you as "goodwill" to GM. With 18K and in need of brakes, they could still say it's the driver. no offense. Anything outside of 12/12 we wont warranty it when it comes to brakes. We charge $300 plus tax to turn the front rotors and install new pads. good luck!

Seriously though..Brakes are tricky to call...Usually most of the OM stuff is pretty good, but like anything, some bad apples squeak through and end up being bad after a few miles..Honestly there is not much to blame on the driver in the case of premature warpage or any warpage for that matter...could be they were broke in wrong, i.e., high speed braking, excessive stop and go type traffic, etc...The fact of matter is, that hardly anyone can take the time or effort to properly break in the brakes...What I suspect happened and it happens to the rears more as mentioned above, is when you drive around a few miles with the parking brake on, then you release it after seeing your error and then have to stop for traffic and the scortched Pads burn in a spot on the rotors and these end up getting worse over time and end up with the warped rotor syndrone...But it also could boil down to material defect in the rotors..but usually just one side or the other, not both sides at the same time, unless they where both exposed to strenuous braking at the same time, such as with the parking brake on...I think everyone has done that a time or two...But the key to this or any hard braking, is to never come to a complete stop, keep the wheels rolling, until the pads and rotors have a chance to cool down some.
