I had a chance to ride in a modded 3.5L I5 H3.  It's 0-60MPH was mid 8 seconds compared to 10.2-11.1 seconds for the stock 3.5L H3 depending on what magazine you believe.  His mods were:

K&N air box
Cold air ducting
Home ported throttle body
Gutted exhaust manifold cat
Exhaust
Tuning

The early reports that I read said the the H3 alpha will run 0-60MPH in just under 8 seconds to just over 8 seconds.  I'd expect alpha performance with better MPG from a 3.7L with these mods.

Wow, that is disappointing!  I'm a motorhead and been around the block a few times.  I'm also a newbie at this forum.  But I know enough that those are horrible 0-60 times.  A lot of SUVs would put those numbers away.

A lot of vehicles with displacement of about 3.7 are putting much bigger numbers.  My 3.6 CTS V6 puts out 255HP. In 2008 it will be 300HP.

I'm not intentional digging in your $h!t guys.  I'm seriously looking at the H3.

I believe you're forgetting a few things Darth...The H3 is a 5800 pound cinder block with low gearing for off roading and it is an I5 engine..so it's wrong to compare to a CTS by any means...Sorta figured you'd realize that since you're a motorhead.

That is sweet looking...Imagine what you could have done to an XLR...

But seriously, ask away, but be careful, the H3 slam radar is ever present...You can't knock a car for what it is and then compare to a high performance ride..I'm sure you understand the sensitivies...But the H3 has room for improvement in all areas, no doubt, as does any other stock car (looking at your caddy you have to agree)...So yepper, you can tweek the H3 some and get a little more bang for the buck from one....But deep down inside, it's still an offroader and shouldn't be compared to a Porsche Cayenne or something like that.

I will invite to completely read all the sections of the H3 and other areas, to form a more educated opinion for yourself...good luck.

Well said Dennis, we seem to have a problem lately with new members "doggin'' the product with there first few posts. Hopefully we deal with it all in good fun. There are volumes of information on this forum as well as many experienced members that can help people with their decisions to buy any Hummer for on or off road or both.Just ask away!

I understand your points Dennis and Obie.  I was very active in a CTS Forum and it bugged me when guys would try to trash the CTS.  I'll play fair.

I saw headers mentioned a couple of times but I couldn't find any one selling them.  Has anyone bought or looked at the B&B "dual exhaust"?

Headers are a tough one to find for the I5..But a lot of us has done the cat-back exhaust up grade, along with a CAI and PCM tune..we are getting about 20 to 30 more HP from those mods combined.

What brand of Cat-back?..IMO there is no one brand that offers better performance over the others...cost drives me and the least expensive for the money was the Gibson...Still sounds great and looks great.and performs great...

I did find a SuperCharger but the $5,000 price tag was beyond me means.

Dennis, does the Gibson have any snap, pop, drone or excessive noise?
