Well, you pretty much summed up the MPG - those numbers are about right for both. As far as other advantages/disadvantages... Gasser: Quieter than Diesels of the same vintage (1996) classic gasser exhaust smell common engine (350) for parts, superchargers, etc. local shops aren't always afraid to work on them Diesel: Better MPG, much more torque at lower RPM (much better for off-road, in my humble opinion) better for towing, better deep water fording rating (30" vs. 24" for gasser) Diesel Exhaust Smell (some people don't like this) For me personally, it would have to be a steal before I would buy a gasser.

what price would you consider a steal? personally im willing to pay <$25k any way to make the engine more fuel efficient? possibly to get it up to par with the diesel? if not then looks like im gonna have to pass on this one

For me to buy a gasser it would have to be compelling; I would rather buy a diesel for 28k than gasser for $25k... I probably wouldn't get serious about buying a gasser for more than $20k. As far as fuel economy goes, I am no expert on improving mileage in those variants; some have claimed decent performance and mileage from installing a Whipple supercharger, but I don't have any firsthand experience with 'em.

I just got my 95 H1 with the gas engine in it. Its only my second day driving it....and I must say im in love with the damn thing. I paid $27000 for mine, and honestly thats what I was expecting to pay. I shopped around and had a "couple" back out on me. The prices went from $26500 to $25000. The two at 26 and 25 backed out on me last minute. I did find a Diesel on autotrader....black...up in New York...but it turned out to be a lemon, had 2nd gear problems. But $26 seems to be about the going rate for a gas engine H1. Now fuel consumption, im not sure quite yet. My H1 has two K&N air filters on it that are clogged to hell, ive got to clean them tonight. Power wise, she is no speed deamond at all, but its a H1, and I love how it crawls along.....I didnt buy a lamborgini:)lol And holy **** this thing is nimble for the size it is. I let my girl friend drive it (and yea shes hot, hot hummer...hot girlfriend=HOT) and she was suprized at how easy it was to drive.
