The black rims have a military look to them with the Green H3. I'm not big on the Black rim thing, but what ever floats your boat. My wife wants a red or Boulder grey H3.

You are right, Intercooled, those black rims do look more "military" on that H3! If I had a second H2, I might also powdercoat them black.

black steel rims are less expensive, and when you crush them on boulders, much cheaper to repair or replace. plus, you can sell your old alloy chromed ones on ebay . . . .but, that's just my opinion

That brings up a question I have. Are there some type of rim gaurds available out there for off roading that would protect your rims from rocks and other stuff. Like a rim shield or something like that?

yeah, there are, but they're expensive and heavy. originally made for the H1, there was talk about making them for the H2, assuming there was interest. i'm not sure how they bolt on though, since i wasn't interested. bead locks will also provide protection, but i don't think they fit on stock rims. the majority of the tires we use already have protective beads around the rim to protect from minor bashes, but won't do much if you hit something hard. i just decided to get rid of the chrome bling rims, and go with black steel on all 5. now if i crush one and can't straighten it out, it's ~$100 instead of ~$400.

Shortbus,
Do you keep your black steel rims on all the time or do you swap them out when you go off roading?

all steel, all the time. the bus had Diamo 8Karat bling on it when i bought it, on all 5 wheels. not much of a chrome lover on a utility vehicle, so i bought the steel and launched the chrome on ebay. they do look sweet on krushr, the black H2 in phoenix that has them now, but i just didn't like them. i think this is a much better look now.

Hey GR8hntr, those step rails look really good on there. And I like the idea of the roof marker lights, however the jury is still out for me on the black rims. I think the pic you have up does look a little military but It is a green H3. With yours being a brighter color it may look real good together. I can't make up my mind. Can you powder coat just one of them, mount it post a pic so I can look at it? That may help me out. HAHA. By the way have you had any luck in the woods yet?
