Gas price just jumped from $2.34 to $2.79 overnight! What next?!

I lowest I've seen here lately is $2.69. I heard today that if the Hurricane hits Galviston Texas and those refineries go down we could possibly see $5.00 a gal.!!! Yikes!!

I guess we've been lucky here in Laredo with low gas prices ($2.34). I'm sure there are gas stations out there already selling for $5.00 doing some price gouging. With all those evacuees needing gas so desperately. We've already had a few thousand people here coming from the coast including from the Houston area.

someone from another forum emailed me yesterday morning and said that he was already seeing 6.00+ a gallon, in the southern texas area..but im not sure exactly where...i got gas, just in case... sams club,, all the way

yes, i do believe that he is in southern texas...he said that his car gets around 38mpg (must be nice), but he was almost empty when he realized that the prices had gone up so much

Thought I'd respark this thread since gas is slowly coming down. Wonder if we'll go back to under $2.00 a gal.??? Anyways were at $2.35 for a low price here in my area. NH.
