I live in Laredo, Texas, border city with Mexico. Hottest city in Texas. I live in the south side, that is, the poor and rough part of town.[8\|]

Hey, don't get me wrong! I love and enjoy my H2. I'ts a pleasure to drive it and I wouldn't have it any other way. I also enjoy all the head-turning. I also don't mind the gas prices especially here in my town where they are cheaper than average.
You gotta understand that an H2 here is a status symbol and only professionals (such as doctors) and drug dealers own h2's here (and I don't think anyone of them will go off roading), no soccer moms. I'm the exception, I'm a blue-collar tech.

Hey efrain, what do you do for work?

I'm a phone technician, I install and repair phone lines; work for SBC, in fact my H2's license plate reads: SBC.COM, needless to say, I'm well-paid.

efrain, we're almost family, in a sick sort of way. i work for cingular, which is half SBC. they don't pay me enough to make my plate say so, but i am trying to get a "jack splat" logo for the front bumper. the way things are going, there will only be one phone company left in about 10 years. i've had the same job for 17 years and this is the third company name.

Yeah! Cingular is like the stepchild of SBC, our union members working for Cingular are always getting screwed. Good luck there.

on issues are new to those of us from the AT&T Wireless side of the house. and my group won't be represented in any way either. but, unions are like religion and politics, not something that leads to calm discussions.

I saw this on a forum "Autopia" that I frequently visit. I assume the source has accurate information. Very interesting

"I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil :

Arab oil:

Shell............................ 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil............... 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway... .117,740,000 barrels
Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels

If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION!
Remember It's about $60/barrel now so it's around $36 BILLION!!!

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Other oil:

Citgo.......................0 barrels
Sunoco...................0 barrels
Conoco...................0 barrels
Sinclair....................0 barrels
BP/Phillips...............0 barrels
Hess........................0 barrels
ARCO......................0 barrels

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing."

Sad to say but this article is flawed. For example, Citgo is Venezuelan oil, and if you keep up with the news, you'd know that Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan president is extremely anti-U.S, anti-Bush. If I were to follow the advice of this article I would only be able to go to Conoco (that's excluding the Citgo too) being that the ones that supposedly don't import from the middle east, don't exist in my city.

even arco, typically one of the cheapest, was at $2.70 for regular today. i think it's time to get used to these prices, and wait 'til it goes above $3.00 to really start complaining. but even then , what do you do? i'm not buying a prius.

I wouldn't drive a Prius even if they gave me one for free. Just make sure you have a lock on that gas cap. With gas prices the way they are, some people might want to start syphoning gas from cars. Nowadays, I've had people ask me for money for gas and also I've seen more people on the side of the road because they ran out of gas.

i agree, on the prius and the locking gas cap. it could end up like the 70's again, except for the lines at the pump. this would be lines wanting to steal my gas. i gotta remember to take a picture of my buddies prius next to the hummer next time he's here. tried to get him to bet that i couldn't drive over it in the bus, he wouldn't bite. i would have gladly lost the bet just to do that . . . .
