ORIGINAL: SteveO I am kind of confused on the extended warranty thing.......GM sent me a extended warranty packet stating after the 12,000 miles I will not be eligible. I thought extended warrantys are after the 5 year 100,000 miles up. Can someone help me with the verbage of this. Is our vehicles not covered after 12,000 miles??? Most dealerships have bumper to bumper for 3 years??? SteveO I called the dealer and I must of been having a brain freeze..........they explanied I have until 12,000 miles to pick up the extended warranty or they will not except the warranty after the 3 years or 36,000 miles

i'm looking at my gm protection plan (extended warranty) offer right now. it says that the 'lowest possible pricing is offered while you have less than 12K miles on your hummer and are within 12 months of your vehicle purchase.' from my understanding, you can always purchase an extended warranty while still under the factory warranty. they're just saying that the 'low price' they offered is only good for 12K miles/1 year. you can still get an EW after that, but it'll cost you more. if you're considering a GMPP EW, like me, these 2 guys offer better pricing and coverage: www.gm-auto-mall.com and www.extendedgmwarranty.com (not sure if i can post these sites, so sorry in advance dennis). hope this helps! so, after a little negotiating, i got two quotes from one of the aforementioned dealerships for the GMPP Major Guard: 6 yrs/72K miles, $0 deductible - $1510 7 yrs/84K miles, $0 deductible - $2205 these seem pretty good to me. any ideas as to the quality of these deals? just trying to get something to compare them to. as expected, these blow my dealer's original quotes out of the water. still can't decide if i should do 6 or 7 years. any advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks! Lil D

I hate to sound ignorant, but I am new to H3's and new to the forum. Where can I find the original thread for this and what the problem was?

FINAL CONCLUSION of the Extended Warranty battle....After 8 months of doing battle, GM/HUMMER has stepped up to the plate and I have received it...it shows in the system at the dealership and I have it on paper. So, persistance does pay off!

Thanks Karli & Dennypoo...yes I am happy now and will put that battle (and ill feelings) behind me. The old gal is in the dealership at the moment for the 5th time making it a total of 3 weeks without her now) for that "post head replacement" loud irritating rattle that just wont go away. They confessed to me today that they just don't know "how to fix it" and GM is now involved...whatever that means LOL. That's OK I am driving a Caddy CTS which is fun for a change because it will get up and go!! And otherwise she runs like a champ and I still her!

Im glad that you got the warranty straight, but I have to say Im glad I took the 1 month car payment from GM instead of the extended aggravation ... GM is probably happy they did too haha. Best of luck.

Thanks Larain. I consider the $2000.00+ GM Major Guard Proection plan that nearly doubled my warranty to have been well worth all my aggravation and time spent over the 8 months in comparison to 1 $200-$300 car payment. The bottom line here tho is we are both satisfied with what we obtained.

ORIGINAL: Gunner_45 I'm sorry to hear you've had such a bad time with GM. Until I purchased my current H3, I had sworn off GM products since 1982 and Ford products since 2000. I still have a 2 inch thick file on my Pontiac T/A (engine problems, tranny problems, electrical nightmares, paint peeling, on and on and on) and one almost as bad on a Ford Exploder (3 trannies, a rear diff and a cornucopia of other crap). On both vehicles, I received the same sort of run around you have gotten on your H3. Unlike yourself, I gave up, traded the vehicles, took a bath in the process and went import. This H3 was my first foray back into US made vehicles......Your experience with GM doesn't bode well. I guess what I'm really trying to say is, Darlin' I feel your pain. If any good comes of your experience, it will be that any potential buyers who read this forum will be forewarned. I guess they (GM) have never heard that old saying "It's cheaper to Keep her".... It would be great if we could get GM to post their official position on this issue. Best of luck, mvl This will probably be my first and last post here.... I am from Ont. Canada and for the past few months I have been looking at buying an addition to the family. I swear by imports as they have done me very well and watch all my friends domestics fall apart and depreciate. However, I came across this incredibly gorgeous 2006 H3 (from the U.S. too) at a local Auto park superstore. When I went to test drive the battery was dead... so with anything of this value I thought I had better research to see if there was any significance to this, via forums such as these. Well I find out there in fact could be some potential battery/electrical problems albeit ones I could overlook due to the fact this is probably the nicest looking SUV on the market. I currently have a 3rd gen 4runner and love the body style but want something new now. Anyway, I then come across this head/valve issue and trying to convince myself that I maybe able to deal with it via a warranty or something. Then I get to the post I have just quoted above...... and it reminded me why I should stay away from a domestic model. Good has come from your post Gunner...thank-you for helping my brain follow my gut! Sorry GM...... your nine lives are quickly coming to an end. AND BTW by the time your Camaro comes to market, it will be out of style!

Interesting read here, as my H3 is up for the head replacement. Just awaiting parts. 22,900 miles.
