Factory Pre-Dented Doors?

Trayderjoe -> Factory Pre-Dented Doors? (4/28/2007 3:13:02 PM)

Folks:  Not sure if you are already aware of the information below (or the validity of the information), but a poster on another Hummer forum has indicated that he has found factory pre-dented rear doors on his truck as well as his wife's truck.  I don't have my vehicle yet, so I can't run out and check, and the Hummer dealership is an hour away, so I can't say from first hand experience that the claims are true.  My apologies if this is repeat information for the regulars on this board.  Hopefully no one will find these dents on their trucks.

"Picked up my '07 H3 that replaced my gremlin infested '06 ... My son
immediately noticed the RIGHT rear door had dent in the just above the crease ... I found a similar dent in the left rear door

I happened to find the same dents in the same area on my wife's '06 ...

Contacted a professional dent remover who has been in the business for
over 20 years ... He got most of the dent out, but in our conversation he
told me that it looked to him this was from the outter skin being pressed
to the inner door and it would only have happened at the factory ...

Now my question to GM is what are they going to do about this?

You just might want to check your rear doors also

Just to try and give everyone a little more exact location .... on the rear door
just above the crease at the front ... you have to stand a bit to the left
and the sun or light source shown on that area ... I've found several others
that are new at the dealership with the same dent ... Now this should be
very interesting dealing with GM about the issue"

looks like another troll at the "other" board. Seems to me IF his doors are dented from the factory then maybe he should have inspected the truck better before he signed the papers...........dumb people annoy me[:D]

This cracks me up, stand on your head, turn on your side, shine a light between your legs, spin three times and you will see a dent.

It's funny that you guys are dogging this guy because I know exactly what he's talking about.  I've seen it on several H3s (mine included) and it does come from the factory that way.  I'd be willing to bet I could find the same flaw on some of your H3s too.  It's a very small issue and it doesn't bother me to the point of having it fixed, but it's there (on both sides).  I haven't been on here much lately because of work and school, so I'm not up to speed on the trolls running around, but the crease that he's talking about....I got it.

Double check your H3s and I'll bet some of you will notice it.  Look at where the front and rear doors meet at the center of the vehicle and check it in the sunlight.  Look towards the lower portion of where the two doors meet and if you have it you will see it.

Hey Mark... I think what he was trying to say was that he had a gremlin infested 2006 H3 that he traded in.

Are you Sh!tting me?!?...I thought I was anal...What the hell, this ain't a Rolls Royce..I would complain about the typical Orange peel before I'd worry about that little imperfection for crying out loud..

Put a set of these on..you splash the looks up a little and it hides those crater dents..[8|]

They've all got 'em...some look worse than others, but I think its just the color of the paint (black is more noticeable, especially when parked on light pavement)...I think if you pointed it out to most owners they'd say...'someone complained about that?? I never even noticed it until now'...

Gunner_45 -> RE: Factory Pre-Dented Doors? (5/1/2007 12:52:22 AM)

Well, if you like the door dents (which mine has as well), here is another....

See how many of you have a dent/distortion in the roof metal directly above the rear / drivers side / passengers/  head.

I've had the truck since last August and just noticed it recently while viewing the vehicle from atop some stairs.

Mine has it, 2 others I've looked at have it and my loaner H3 (Thank You Sewell) from the dealer today had it....(the service guy thought I was nuts).

You would NEVER notice it with the cross bars/rails on....

It's funny how you see little crap like that the longer you own a vehicle.

(head liner droop above the rear view mirror, panel distortion around door mirrors, plastic under mini grill flimsy)

But that's ok.....I'm still keepin' it.

RutDogg -> RE: Factory Pre-Dented Doors? (5/1/2007 4:44:47 PM)

Yeah.....it's so minor I never really gave it a second thought.  Most people don't notice it anyways.

You must be a morning person, which is why I never saw you...but your truck got the thumbs up from the off-road lovers (the tires) and the bling crowd (wheels)...its normally hard to please everyone around there!

Thanks Brian, it's nice to hear someone appreciates that "Black Tux with Mud Boots" look I was going for---[:D][:D][:D][:D]

Yeah, I was there at the butt crack of dawn to drop mine off for the usual service.....Just hit 12,000 miles today....
I got distracted on my way out that afternoon and didn't realize I forgot to look you up till I got down by the flight museum.
Your guys did their usual fine job (even replaced the rear license bracket with an updated version as well as the DS mirror).
The loaner and wash job were worth half of the service bill.

BTW: I saw two more 3's today with that stupid distortion on the roof (I have a street side balcony and saw them stopped at the intersection)

WTH?

1_maniac -> RE: Factory Pre-Dented Doors? (5/2/2007 11:19:00 AM)

I made the post to point out the very poor fit & finish of a vehicle thataverages a price tag of $40,000 ... I felt if we, as owners, should takea stance against permitting GM to get away with marketing a vehicle with such "defects" Maybe GM would sit up and take notice ... I would wager money that if the Cadi Owners would find such a flaw and raised such an issue, GM would sit up and take notice ...  No wonder Consumer Reports has rated the H3 as one of the worst vehicles to own & drive ... Check out the latest issue for youselfDon't just take my word for it. I believe companies should be held accountable for their productsand for these companies to quit producing substandard productsUntil, we as consumers make a stand ... we get what we have now ( OK, I'll get off my soapbox )
