Just installed roof rails on my H3 , and found the wind noise annoying. I moved the front rail back a bit and that seems to have helped some.
Was wondering if a sunroof deflector would also help , has anyone done this or what have you found to help .

Odd...I assume of course that you have them installed correctly...I have never experienced wind noise problems with mine.

I got some noise with mine too..I have front one set right past the point in the track that you install them. the leading edge of the mount is lined up with the seam in the track where the filler plate ends and the back one is about 10" from the rear travel limit..I was thinking about moving the front one back a little more..

Hmmmm , I think they are on right the travel disc is in the trac but I will check. Also I now wonder if the rear one is too far back and that is what I am realy hearing , I am going to try moving the back one up more by the rear piller (sort of how your avitar pic shows ). Will let you know how that works.
Nice to find your forum , and thanks for any advice .

Welcome to the forum chief!  Great buncha folks here. I have learned much and found great places to purchase Hummer items, as well as had many chuckles here!  As for the placement of my rails, the sun roof pretty much dictates the placement of the front rails (as well as the slots) and I wanted them to look fairly proportionate in placement so I moved the back one up a bit. Chances of me actually using them are pretty slim and I got them merely for looks sake.  To me the H3 just looks as if it is missing something without them.

Moving the racks back behind the front doors when you're not using them to carry something will help even more.  The further they are away from your ears, the quieter they'll sound.  Try moving them around and see for yourself.

I really don't like sunroof deflectors because they block the sunroof opening.  The H3 is the first vehicle that I've owned that I can actually notice sky above me when it's opened so I don't really want to block the view.

As you can see my rear one is a little further back than Sarah's..I think I'll move it forward some and see if that makes a difference...

Up-Date

I moved the rear ones up to where the front edge of the mount lines up with the seam in the plastic trim right above the trailing edge of the rear door...

I'm not a 100% sure, but I think that helped a lot...I could only get up to 68 MPH, because I was on school zone and couldn't open er up.

Yep, did the same as you Dennis with the same good results. At the least it is now tollerable. Hard to believe just a few inches made that type of differance, but then again a few inches can make all the differance in the world ...just ask my wife....haha

Dennis,

My roof mounts (triangular hoops) are mounted outside of my roof rails.  Did you change yours?

So I dont know what noise your getting but I dont seem to hear any wind noise from my rails. But I do have a sunroof, so when its open, it might help with the noise.  Possibly why I dont hear the noise.  I allways have the sunroof open, you know here in the desert.

Yeah...A sun roof may change the aerodynamics of the roof...But just moving the rear one forward seemed to fix the noise problem for mine..Must be a vortex set up by the first rail + the distance of seperation caused a turbulance between them the way they were first spaced..
