Only needed to remove six 13mm bolts. Filter came off OK but needed a band wrench. I was surprised how dirty the oil looked for only 1054 miles. Used 3 qts 5-30 Mobil 1 syn and 3 qts 10-30 Mobil 1 syn with a M1-206 Mobil 1 oil filter. I am not a big believer in a 5-30 oil as it has too much viscosity modifiers and thus less oil. Called Mobil (1-800-ASK_MOBIL) and they said it was fine to do this and it would make it a 7 1/2-30 oil.
While the plates were off I polished to a dull shine the stainless front skid plate. I only used a fine abrasive as that was all I had around and had to use a battery powered drill and both batteries only worked for 4 or 5 minutes. With a more aggressive abrasive and a fast buffing wheel I am sure you could get this SS skid plate to have a chrome like, shiney finish in 15-20 minutes. It would match the grill and look great.
I will note the gas mileage with this synthetic oil and compare it to the non synthetic oil.

Do you have a H2 or H3? I thought that skid plate was aluminum.

I don't know what the plate is made of, haven't gotten down there to look yet, but I did read somewhere that someone polished it on a polishing wheel, tehre was a pic of it and it looked like it was chromed....definitely looked much better than stock and for free too! I'll try to find the pic....I take 6 percoset a day so my memory sucks..may take awhile...lol
