They're full of BS if they told you that. I don't think there is a dealership in this country that isn't aware of the ring and pinion issues on the H3. The service techs I was wheeling with last october told me they have done a dozen each (at that time). It may be true that they have no idea why it's doing it, .. but I sure hope they didn't act surprised. But, glad to hear you have it back, now, and all is well.

No....not a word about any other H3 with problems with the front differentials..........they just said sometimes they can be off on timing and take awhile for them to break  " defective" . I am glad the warrenty covered it.....and my Service guy " James Hayes" here in Vegas is awesome... He has taken good care of me with all my crazy defective breakdowns !

Yeah, I'm not sure that they know what casues it, but many, if not all dealers are or should be aware that many have failed. One service tech told me he thought it was from the marking compound being left in there. I don't agree with that.. but they are still covered by the warr. so that what counts. It still doesn't help you if it leaves you stranded. It's a shame that you have to drive around wondering if you will be the next diff or head/valve failure waiting to happen. But, most every vehicle has it's little quirks.. so all we can do is be hopeful that they won't hit us.

My guess is that the new R&P will be fine, so more then likely you won't have another issue with it. Cross your fingers.

I think if I have any failures, I'm seriously going to think about having the new parts cryo'ed, before they go in.

The Alpha V8 will have a cast iron front diff.
This is what  should have been in all H3s.

Thers is talk about the cast aluminum housing on the front diff flexing causing the ring and pinion gears to break (strip)

Yeah, I wouldn't doubt it. That things is so dinky it looks like it belongs in a go-cart.
