Touchy debate .. and to think I've sat out as long as I have .... Choco ... while you have some good points, they are unfortunately based on speculation rather than facts. When the towers came down they did so with a snowball effect. One floor collapsed on top of the floor below it, generating an increasing force and mass as it progressed. If you look at the construction of the buildings themselves and factor in that burning jet fuel stripped the fire proofing off the support beams .. it's EASY to understand that the heat the burning fuel generated eventually weakened the support beams thus causing them to fail. Once one floor collapsed there is nothing you can do to stop the progression and ultimately interaction of gravity ... And I don't recall who said it but to start making sensational claims like you did .. it's a pretty good slap in the face to everyone who died. I don't think there is one American that doesn't feel a connection with the folks who died there and what you're saying get's personal for all of us. I dunno about the rest of ya's but I'll never forget watching people leap from the towers and plummet to their deaths ... Don't sprinkle salt in wounds that are still fresh doode ... they will be for a LONG time still ..

Now as far as the war in Iraq goes ... I think it's a shame we have to send our soldiers there to die ... it's an unfortunate drawback in being the last surviving super power. I had a friend come back from there and he was a very different person afterwards .... war is hell my friends .. and as much as I dispise them from a conceptual aspect they are an unfortunate necessity just as guns are ... I just hope for a quick resolution and no more blood shed ... to many people have lost their kids, parent, brother, or sister over there ... I just hope the soldiers over there understands the appreciation MOST of us have for what they do ... just wish they wouldn't have to do it!

Well put my dear! That big mouthed obnoxious pig Rosie O'Donnell is one who has been spewing this conspiracy BS as of late (amongst others)...Everyone is entitled to their opinions and theories (and this IS a forum to do so BUT...)...this theory is ABSURD and to voice opinions such as this here with veterans on the forum as well as others who may have lost loved ones as well....not real tactful or sensitive.

Thank you... but you know my points of views when it comes to the freedom to express yourself .. whilst they may be obsurd to you and me, they make perfect sense to others. And whilst this may be offensive to some .. this is one of the corner stones that built this country, the freedom of speech. One should not be prosicuted for their beliefs, religious or others ... and whether it's tactful or sensitive ... that's a matter of perception ... and they are all correct and they are all wrong ... Just because *I* don't agree doesn't mean the "opposition" is absurd .. it's a different view point and should be treated with the same level of respect as you would want yourself when voicing yours ... And as much as I disagree with Choco in this particular instance .. at least he questions things, I respect that! However misguided I may feel it is .. yanno what I mean?

Again, well put sugar! I was voicing my opinion with regard to this subject as well, and while doing so I was NOT meaning to bash Choco at all - that's something I just don't do here or anywhere else for that matter (unless of course the poster is a "trollish twit" then let the games begin! ) With that being said, it's a heated topic and when one voices an opinion on any heated topic, they must be prepared for the backlash so to speak.

Why thank you ... :-) Agreed, any heated debate, especially this topic tends to bring out emotions regardless of where you go and who you discuss it with. I don't see eye to eye with a whole lot of people in general and yes, there are definitely some consequences to face when you voice something that goes against the "popular opinion" .. Takes some cajones to do that and if nothing else I'll have to give Choco that much ... and backlash?? Absolutely, without them it wouldn't be a two way street .. it would be preaching (not intended as a religous bash here ya'll, just using the word) more than anything else .. and quite frankly ... considering how media is these days it's sometimes VERY difficult to really get the "truth". A classic example here is reading a news story documented in two different countries. In my case I still read the news back in Sweden on a daily basis, as well as CNN and our local stuff here in Cinti. I have seen SOO MANY stories covered where the "facts" contradict based on where it was written. You don't have to go outside the country either, read enough of them here in the states and yes, there are differencies there too ... It's an "objective" view of the person who wrote it but you are ultimately dealing with one persons (the journalist) perception and understanding of the event, not truly what happened .. you would have had to have been there yourself to get the "truth" ... downside of perception, it differs from person to person. There is a couple of snippets out of a book by Jean Baudrillard (one of my fav authors, writes philosophy and quite a few publications in the Social studies field as well) questioning the authenticity of documented history from this very perspective ... which again, it all bottoms down to things being both, not either or .... perception is a b*tch, ain't it LOL!

Unfortunately here in the US anyway, the media most often tends to twist or distort the truth (besides their own perception), and sensationalize - because it makes for good copy since that's what people seem to want to hear/read. It's just like rubbernecking at a gory scene..we ewwww and shudder over it and turn away, but yet we still have the overwhelming urge to look yet again! (Not everyone of course - this is just a generalization!) Our constitution was written to give all the right to express their opinions (and that is going to pot now too) and that we should..however I still defend MY OPINION that sometimes a situation might warrant reserving one's opinions verbally - if it is at the expense of another. This is the kinder, gentler side of ME. (Don't get me wrong and mistake my gentle side as a sign of weakness for I am quite capable of ripping someone a new one! I simply choose my battles carefully so as to reserve my energy for those who really deserve it! LOL) "And that's all I have to say about tha-at!"

Yep, anything to make money .. that's basically what it bottoms down to these days ... how anyone can be objective with that intent is beyond me LOL! Gawd only knows what the "history" books will look like 2-300 years from now when they discribe the time we live in currently LOL! Would be interesting to read, that's for sure!
