I am in the "Land of Confusion" regarding Tire Sizes for my H3!  And I need assistance from all of you H3 Gurus on this Forum.  You all have been a great source of Knowledgeable "Correct" information.

I know this has probably been covered, but I can't find any consistent information.  So, if you wish to E-Mail me directly at DavidJacober@Comcast.Net should you not wish to be repetitive and tie up this forum, that would be fine.

Here's my predicament.  I currently have (4) ProComp 35x12.5x18 LT M&S Tires on my '07 Hummer (As seen below I hope).  When I bought it, I wanted a 5th one as a spare tire, but the dealer said that would not be possible for 2 reasons.  First, this size tire would not fit on the back due to a conflict with the rear wiper.  Second, this tire size would not fit on the back due to the rear bumper which would either make it difficult, if not impossible, to open and close the rear door due to rubbing or hitting the rear bumper.  So they wouldn't sell me a 5th tire & rim.

Now, I have a 265 tire on the back, and I want another ProComp 35x12.5x18 LT M&S Tire for the Spare.  Rooftop mounting, such as in a basket, is not possible as my garage height prohibits in doing so.

Again, I am sorry for any repetition this post creates.

That being said, the dealer's Parts man, at my behest, is checking into whether they can get me another (5th) tire to mount on the back, thus taking back my Hummer Rim & 265 Tire, with me paying the difference.  So I need as many replies & as much info. A.S.A.P..  Before I make the actual purchase.

Thank You Very Much In Advance!

David

I have heard of people adding some sort of spacers to pull it out from the wiper, but with my 315/75/16s I'm sitting at maybe a quarter of an inch of space between the bumper and my spare tire.  Anything bigger than that and it's probably very true that it won't fit.  You are probably going to have to invest in a roof rack maybe and put the spare tire up top.  Just my opinion of course.  I haven't yet to see any kind of bracker to pull the tire up, but even if there was then you wouldn't be looking out of your back window.

To my knowledge from reading here (someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong) a 315 is a 35" tire, 265's are the standard 32", 285's are the 33's on the adventure package, etc.

You are correct...a 315 is a 35" tire...according to the handy dandy tire size converter it is exactly 34.6" in diamater. Here is a link if anybody is interested.

a 35 will clear without any rub issues. If for some strange reason yours does rub just add a few washers to the studs to push your tire away from the wiper some. I have seen a lot of h3's with 35's on the back door and none rubbed. Take off one of your 35's and see if it fits......takes all of 10 minutes....then tell your dealer to get a clue.

dajacober...........if he says it's true, it is.  I have a 315/75R16 that arrived via UPS this afternoon from Jordan Tire that I am going to try and mount on Thursday.  (I'll reiterate IK's truth once it is mounted)

Great news!  Thanks to all of you who took the time to write!  Please let me know, 07HummerH3, on Thursday when you get yours on regarding how it looks, does it rub the rear bumper when the rear door is opened, etc.

Thanks!

David

I've put one of my 35's on as a spare to see if  it would fit and it cleared with no problems at all. I don't have stock rims but I doubt a stocker would rub either...there was plenty of space with my rims.
