Hey everyone. Just a quick question? Which tiers do you think would look better on these rims?  35" Mickey Thompson MTZ or 35" Nitto Terra Grapplers.  I don't do much off roading but I still want that aggressive look. They will 18" rims or may be 20's not sure. Thanks for everyones help.

Having the MTZ's on my H2 I'm obviously quite biast here ... been exceptionally pleased with them to be honest.  Snow and rain performance is .. well, beyond excellent in my opinon ... offroad performance is just as good .. hell, I didn't even air down the last time around and had zero issues ...  Now, Impy claims there is no significant increase in tire whine on the H3's running 35" MTZ's .. with this said in my opinion these are louder than the stock AT's I took off.  That I guess could potentially be a preasure thing as I'm sure Impy runs his higher than I do mine ...

All in all the MTZ's are great tires and I'd recommend em to anyone ... with this said though .. why would you want to spend the money on tires like this if you don't intend to take it off the pavement!?  I realize the look is a part of it but damn, it seems like such a waste ....  [8|]

Thanks for the info on the tires. I do want to go offroading but where I live in Jersey I don't know where to go. I would love to get my truck full of mud. If anybody knows let me know . thanks Anthony.

I dunno if Paragon is still open for business or not but that's probably your closest park ... anyone care to chime in here?

07HummerH3 -> RE: Mickey Thompson MTZ or Nitto Terra Grapplers (4/12/2007 5:09:26 PM)

Paragon is still open but I have not been there myself - my neighbor goes there just about every weekend.

I just had the 35" MTZ put on about 10 days ago and I think that is one of the best things that I have done to my H3.  I didn't notice any additional noise from them, they run very smoothly on pavment, and today in the rain they were great.  They do rub a little against the tortion bars and I've had the leveling kit installed; I spent 3 hours at the dealership yesterday having an allignment done, torsion bars tightened and an oil change.  It took them a while to get everything right with the leveling kit, torsion bars and wheel symmetry, but it is sooooo smooth now.

As for spending the $ if you aren't off road that often.  To that I say "so what".  It makes the rig look absolutely bad a$$ and that is what customization is all about.

If you decide to move forward with them, contact Trisha at Jordan Tires (thank ImportKiller for the referral as he turned me on to them) she is a sweetheart to talk to and they were the cheapest...mention the forum and I think that she takes that into consideration when calculating the cost, but I'm not positive.

You could go for just off-highway trails in the pine barrens area of NJ to start with...

Do you have any specifics?  ie: roads that lead to them or locations of the trail-heads?  The only place I have found is Assunpink Wildlife Mgmt Area that has some trails, but it is very small.

07HummerH3,

We usually try to go for the larger trails (unless there's a strong urge to pinstripe our baby!), but there are plenty of larger and also narrow trails (but the elevation's mostly flat, the area's being the way it is)... why don't you start off at the atsion ranger station? Try to make your way in to quaker bridge and then to batsto... along the way, you'll find plenty of trails that can take you to plenty of places!

Let me know if you need more details!

mickey thompson...you won't be dissapointed.

ZYNE...I know why the difference in noise levels .....you have an h2...heavier truck = louder tires. I Drove in my friends Suburban over the weekend and his 35" mtz's were slightl louder than mine too.

DrCarver -> RE: Mickey Thompson MTZ or Nitto Terra Grapplers (4/13/2007 3:15:13 PM)

Mickey T's for sure.  They've got that agressive look and they're surprisingly quiet at highway speeds.
