I agree - that said, I wouldn't be holding one and if one ever gets on me, I come really close to peeing myself! 
You have to respect them simply based on the talent they have in making their webs. True works of art!

I USED to be the same....but the wife is even MORE TERRIFIED of the FU(KERS, so I have to be the SpIdEr KiLlEr in the house
The worse is how we have the backyard landscaped. We have tons of rocks and boulders which, of course, means ROCK SPIDERS!!!! Luckily the GEESE and DUCKS we get in our pond EAT 'EM, but I don't go outside much!!
