Sewie -> Another newbie (5/10/2006 7:06:35 PM)

Well I finally got around to posting here. I usually post on another forum. But I had to come over and start messing with Shortie.

Here's the obligatory pic.

Got it in July of last year. Adventure pack, added a CB, line-x'ed grill, rock rails, UCP, more on the way.

So Sewie,

Since you've had the H3 longer than most folks here..Can you tell us if you have been plagued by the Engine valve problem, or anything else that required warranty repair?..And how many miles are on your rig now?

Sewie -> RE: Another newbie (5/15/2006 8:06:26 PM)

No major issues here (**knockingonwood**), at least that weren't self-inflicted. [;)] I did have the front diff replaced and the t-case rebuilt. But that was all covered under warranty, no questions asked.

Sewie -> RE: Another newbie (5/15/2006 8:19:29 PM)

Oh, and I have about 14K miles so far.

Golden Shellback -> RE: Another newbie (5/15/2006 9:39:54 PM)

14K miles?!......I'm getting there. I got mine in July '05 too (ordered in May '05).

PS: how is the hummus three doing for you offroad? i've heard alot of good things about them, including meeting an offroad hobbyist who traded an H2 for an H3. whiel he didn't say outright the smaller humm was superior, he hinted that it had some advantages, which was cool.

14K miles?!......

Black Rock, Death Valley, Tahoe, SoCal, etc. etc......it adds up. Figure after Moab I'll be over 20K!!

GB - I definitely wouldn't say the H3 is superior to the H2. I think each model has its pros and cons. There are things H2's can do easier than an H3 and vice-versa. For me the H3 is a better fit for around town and on the wallet, and I haven't been left behind on a trail yet. [;)]

My intrigue with this is based on convos with people at the local dealer. One evening i got into a convo about this one evening after those guys had gotten back from an off-road thing (i didn't have my truck yet), and they commented that the smaller hummer was better suited for some things, like rock crawling, due to a better crawl ratio (60s:1 manual, 50s:1 auto -vs- 30's to 1 with the H2).

They also commented that the more powerful h2 had advantages in some things.

I really like the H3s, and i respect hummer/GM for making them what they are instead of a poser of some sort. I love the options for contrasting seats, and the piping on the leather in at least some. The interior has alot of what makes the inside of the H2 so cool - freaking awesome front seats and a nice snugness, and isn't w/o its pros relative to the H2. Same for the outside. and if anybody tells you its a colorado, tell them the H3 has about 10% shared parts.

I guess the H2 was the thing for me for ride quality / noise, i dig the luxo-car aspects of the big truck. But the H3 isn't without its pros relative to the H2, even if you leave cost aside. they rock
