How involving is the CASE relearning?

mgurgone -> RE: PCMforLess Extended Group Buy - You guys asked for it and you got it! (3/30/2007 4:43:57 PM)

Are there any warranty issues with this from GM?  I have been searching the forum and can not find any discussion on this.

Thanks

Case relearn is done by the dealer..he has to set a calibration element..nothing serious at all..just they will charge you about $80.00 to do it.

Will not affect warranty at all..Just don't brag about it to the dealer and make sure they check with you if thay want to do a Re-flash of your PCM.

Who has done this already and what customization did you include (ie: adjustment for larger tires, etc)  Please share any experiences that you have had with this process.  I am interested, but want to fully understand what I'm getting into.

The entire "security re-learning/ your truck will not initially start" thing makes me a bit nervous.  I don't want to end up with a dead H3 in my driveway.

JUST DO IT!!!! LoL
I did not need to do the security relearn thing when I recieved my loaner PCM, Not sure why, maybe cause I disconnected the Battery before installing, or maybe because I supplied Kelly and Alvin with my VIN number to be programed into the loaner... DUNNO!!!
But by the sounds of things bud, that security relearn thing is no big hassle, just sitting around for 35 min to go through the proccess could be a little boring.... [sm=sleeping.gif]

I have PCMFL program my PCM to use 89 Octane fuel, CAI system, performance exhaust, and firmer shift points. I can't wait for It to arrive!!!

Thanks HumRluvR - Please let me know how the final product works out for you.  I thought that you didn't have to deal with the security issue for the loaner but will for the final.  Oh, and are you making fun of me with the "Just Do It" reference?  [sm=laughat.gif]

HummerGuy -> RE: PCMforLess Extended Group Buy - You guys asked for it and you got it! (3/30/2007 9:04:42 PM)

I was probably the first, maybe second, person on the forum to do this.  It's great.  Although I have a 5-speed, the results were awsome.  I can help you understand it more if you'd like, but tonight i'm a bit busy.  The relearn process is a piece of cake, just time consuming.  It takes about 30 minutes.  I did it and it worked the first time.  Not one person here that has had to do it has had it fail as far as I remember.  The results are great.  It takes a few tanks of gas to really get it going, but you will notice a difference, especially if you have an automatic!  If you have any specific questions, post them here for PM me and I will be more then happy to answer them.  Kelly is also very responsive if you ask her.

Dennis -> RE: PCMforLess Extended Group Buy - You guys asked for it and you got it! (3/30/2007 11:14:18 PM)

Once and for all..

The Security Relearn is for a NEW PCM core, or a LOANER PCM...your Original PCM WILL NOT need it done...The loaner and/or the new PCM core  will come with a simple step by step instructions and the procedure, that takes about 31 minutes of sitting on your ass and turning the ignition key on and off....that's it...You might ask..How do I know if I need this done??...Answer: Your H3 won't start...If it starts..then your all done,  nothing else to worry about except getting your original PCM back, all tuned and ready to go.
Some people including myself, didn't need to do this security relearn for our LOANER...some do...so if you do..the instructions are easy.

The CASE relearn is for a NEW PCM Core ONLY, if that's the way you go..You have to take your H3 to the dealer and they reset or recalibrate something like a crank sensor, because you have a NEW PCM and it ain't sync'd in yet with your H3...this costs about $80.00..The symtom for this is a check engine light...everything else runs fine and acts normal.....If you are using a LOANER, Alvin already has this problem programmed out, so it won't be a problem while you have his LOANER...

2luke2 -> RE: PCMforLess Extended Group Buy - You guys asked for it and you got it! (3/30/2007 11:41:19 PM)

So you're saying that if I get a New Core as a loaner and can deal witha  check engine light for a few days then why pay the extra 50 bucks?

Dennis -> RE: PCMforLess Extended Group Buy - You guys asked for it and you got it! (3/30/2007 11:45:56 PM)

No, IMO I would get the loaner and pay an extra $50.00 and deal MAYBE with a Security relearn for the loaner...A NEW PCM (CORE OPTION) will require a CASE RELEARN...That will cost you $80.00..

07HummerH3 -> RE: PCMforLess Extended Group Buy - You guys asked for it and you got it! (3/31/2007 6:54:37 AM)

Why do people seem to get their panties in a bunch when we ask questions which originate from a true need/want to learn and lack of understanding about something- especially before $100's of dollars are going to be spent (I'm not talking about questions that have been asked 1000x like tightening torsion bars either).  In general, there seems to be a growing lack of patience around here IMHO
