Vehicle---2006 H3 with 22,000 miles.

I posted a question recently regarding a non-descript noise/vibration in the engine compartment--Dealer noticed a missing bolt used to hold exhaust shroud in place. Fixed!

I also mentioned (to the dealer) a slight shudder/miss in the engine at idle and the sudden onset of very poor gas mileage. Check Engine light was NEVER illuminated. Guess What?  A new cylinder head is on order. He found one valve was sticking and the replacement parts will arrive within 2 weeks. Hopefully, the new head is an improved version.

Is it true that GM is extending warranties due to this problem? If so, does anyone have the facts and a contact number?

Not to ruffle your feathers Dennis (because I know you wear them ), I think the fact he had a head problem with NO check engine light is a pretty significant find, considering I had the same problem he did.

Oh yeah, sorry, I was mixing it up with it producing error codes.  I remember now.  The light would NOT come on, but still produce the error code.  That's what I was thinking about.  I guess I'm wearing the feathers now.....................

I have been noticing what sounds like the noise you describe from the engine compartment, so it was a missing screw in your exhaust shroud huh?  I have looked for something making the noise but havnt found anything, I'll take a look at my exhaust..

Update from GM and the dealer---
I will be issued a 6 yr./75,000 mi. bumper to bumper warranty.
The greatest asset is to have the service manager on your side. He has the "power" to make it happen.
