Just installed my stainless steel rear tail light covers to add a little chrome to the back-end of the truck.  I also have the stock dealer cover that came with the car for the spare tire.  It has the dealer name right across the cover that I really don't like.

I was wondering if it would look better if I took the cover off exposing the spare tire and rim?  I'm thinking it will add a little more eye candy from the back seeing the rim and tire.  What do you all think or prefer?

it may look better, but the sun will rot the rubber over time.  if you're in Seattle, it probably won't be an issue, but the cover does more than just advertise for the dealer.  i'd say leave it on.

or the color matched tire covers (w/ no logos) are nice...they may have the black plastic covers that just say Hummer H3 w/ out the name too for less.

Definatly leave it off.  I took mine off as far as your tire getting damaged from the sun as long as you treat the
tire the same as your other tires, cleaning putting a tire dressing on it, it should last as long as the other tires.
My tire looks fine and I'm down here in Florida were it is hot and sunny most of the time.  And as long as your
spare is the same size you can rotate all your tires spare included as illustrated in the owners manual.

Thanks for all the input.  I really don't mind having it on but just don't like seeing the dealer's advertisement on my truck that big.  I read the posts on removing the stencil but there didn't seem to be a real good solution that works without the chance of ruining the plastic hard cover

I have the hard cover with H3 on it..(I would NOT advertise the dealer) I have my days where I think it looks better on and some off (however mine is not so easy to take off since I had the shoe repairman put grommets on the underside and I fished a thin cable/lock thru them and the tire rim to keep my cover from "wandering off.").... You could take it off when the urge strikes you and you are feeling a bit more blingy!

I have none but I've always wanted the simple plain black cloth one with the white 3/4 profile of the military H1 with 50 Cal.  Has anyone seen this for sale anywhere?

I say leave it on, but the dealer splash does stink.  On my original black tire cover with the dealer logo, I just used acetone to remove the dealer name.  Came off easy.  I ended up getting a sweet deal on a white cover, so I now have an extra black one with the word Hummer on it.

littlehummerboy...did the acetone do any damage or discoloration of the hard plastic cover?  I guess I'll have to give it a try.  What's the worse that can happen...I'll have a good reason to get a new one

Nope, didn't hurt the plastic.  Make sure you are in well ventilated area, wear rubber gloves, and use a good cloth, microfibre preferred.  I used a toothbrush to get little some little flakes off.  After done, wash with soap and water several times, then wax entire thing.  Took me about 1/2 hour to remove "DUECK GM, VANCOUVER, BC".  Do not "scrub"hard, let the acetone do it's work and wipe off.  Do not let the acetone touch letters you wish to keep.

If the acetone doesn't work try Krylon
