Do a search on this website and you will find a plethora of information on this precise subject.
But it is behind the glove box.

It's actually pretty easy to get to.....when you remove the head unit it's to the right behind the glove box.  You should be able to get to the XM wiring harness without having to remove the glove box.

I took the glove compartment off, but I did not see it back there.
I followed the "10 min ipod install", but I could not find it.

I have the Nav System and the XM which I had converted to SIRIUS - the installer pulled the entire silver face plate off which surrounds the radio, vents, etc and accessed the XM directly behind it (I believe it is refered to as the head unit).  Mine wasn't behind the glove box.  Hope that this helps.

Thanks for the info.  Sounds like alot more than a 10 minute install.  Where are the screws that hold the head unit located?  Is this something I should be doing myself?

ragz12,
Sounds like no you should not be doing this. You have to remove the faceplate of the dash to access the head unit. The screws are right there staring at you.
Check out http://www.rausite.com/hummerh3.htm for pictures of a stereo removal.

Skoal,
Thanks, this is exactly what I needed.  It looks like the XM unit is below the radio.  If that is the case then all I need to do is remove the bezel to install the Nexus.  Wish me luck.

The Tech used what equated to be dental tools or small picks to pull the top corners away first and then the lower corners.  I can best describe them as a snap/compression fitting.  I was nervous even watching him pull the face plate off, but it is probably something that you can do with the right tools.  Just make sure that you work them into the dash between the silver face plate and black plastic just under the vents and pull straight back......underneath the plate there may be some small screws that hold the guts of the unit in.

So I guess that the 07 xm box is behind the radio and not the glove box.  Bummer

I've pulled the silver dash plate of mine several times for different things.  The easy waay to do it is to stick your right middle and ring fingers into the power outlets on the lower left side.  Pull out slowly and work your way up the sides intil it comes off.  There are plugs on the back that connect to various buttons on the face plate.  Simply disconnect each one and remove the face plate.  Then remove the 4 bolts (2 on each side) holding the head unit in and slide the head unit out.  On my 2006 H3 the XM box can be accessed once the head unit is out.  On the 06 H3 you can look to the right side (behind the glove box) of where you just removed the head unit and you should see the wiring harness plug.  I don't know if it's different for the 2007 but that's how it is for the 2006.  I installed the USA SPEC PA-11gm iPod adaptor on my Hummer myself and it took about an hour.

Rutt,
How the hell did you get your hand in there to disconnect the harness from the XM receiver? I was attempting to install the USA-SPEC adapter yesterday, but ran out of time and gave up out of frustration at not being able to remove the harness. On top of that, I wasn't even sure if it was the correct plug. I do recall from past posts that the XM unit is behind the glove box. If it is the harness that I believe it is, how did you get it to release? There seems to be a blue locking clip on the harness from what I could see. I just couldn't figure out how to make it release. Any help would be appreciated. The last thing I want to do is inadvertently mess with something associated with the passenger airbag.

I agree.  I thought the black thing behind the glove box was the airbag also.  I didn't want to touch it.  Does anyone know for sure where the xm is and the easiest way to access the plugs?

If memory seves me I did remove the glove box.  The blue clip is a retainer clip...just slide it back and then the harness should slide off.  It's been a while since I've done this so I'm going off of memory.  I was trying to describe where the XM harness was and the only way I could give you an idea is to tell you to look to the right after you remove the head unit.  To remove the plug I think the glove box has to come off, but it's easy enough to remove.  I know I posted instructions somewhere on this forum about 10 months ago when I did the install.
