Odds are it is a heat shield on the exahust somewhere. Why not take it back to the dealer and have them look at it?

I have a 2007 H3 with a 5-speed, and it's worst shirting manual trans I have ever owned (new car wise). It has a slight clash when shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd... it only has 3,800 miles and has been like that since new. It's not horrible (not bad enough to take back to the dealer), but it's a pretty poor shifting vehicle. I hope someone comes out with a short throw shifter for it... but I doubt it due to the low production #'s the 5 speed makes up.

Tell them to keep the vehicle for a few days and drive it and to put you in a loaner. If it's interior, it shouldn't be to hard to find. If it's realted to the powertrain, they should put some chassis ears on it when they drive so they can isolate the noise.
