Artist: Margartia Cabrerra

Margarita Cabrera, one of the artists featured at The Gallery at UTA until March 3, makes reference to her artwork. This piece consists of small vinyl Hummers she put together and placed in a pyramid on the gallery floor.

I think the one above was made from Border Guard uniforms.

Here is a better pics of the larger vinyl one.  It is not made out of border patrol uniforms, that was another piece she did

Art is subjective, but I'm not really not clear on the message she is trying to impart.  From reading on her work, it still is not clear to me.  To each his own.

Double Dumb-Ass on me ! !

I stand corrected, it was the smaller piece.

According to the Dallas Morning News:

“El Paso artist Margarita Cabrera’s Hummer Pyramid, which uses fabric
from US Border Patrol uniforms and Mexican maquiladora textile plants
is included in an exhibit”…blah blah, blah, blah….

Only YOU would pick up on that and point it out........

There are real deal classic artists like Rembrandt, Van Goeh (spelled wrong), etc, and there are people who say something is art because it is so abstract, and people are so suckered into it they believe it.  That's something a grade-schooler probably could have made.  Then people draw a line on a white background and say it represents some subconcious this that or the other, well it's a freakin straight line on a canvas.  I can do that too!

BLAH!

What the hell does that Hummer thing represent? Seriously? I'd really like to know.

You wanna see some REAL art? Here ya go:
