Yea.  My feels very vague, won't track straight and clunks on ocassion.  Of course the dealer never hears, feels, or otherwise experiences anything

ZYNE -> RE: 2006 H2 Steering (3/2/2007 2:49:36 PM)

The clunking I think is a GM trade mark :-)  My -02 Avalanche sounded pretty much the same as my -03 H2 .. with roughly the same amount of play in it .. personally I have no issues with it but yeah, like SD said, it does have a lil bit of "play" in it which of course can be irritating to some ...

I don't notice annything??

shortbus -> RE: 2006 H2 Steering (3/2/2007 11:54:31 PM)

my steering was crap when i had a bad intermediate steering shaft.  also crap when the gear on my steering box was worn down to almost smooth.  with those items replaced, and a fresh pitman arm on the bus, my steering is tits now, tight as a duck's butt.  a little more info would be helpful concerning what you don't like about your steering, otherwise we're all just fishin' in the dark.

the clunking was the intermediate shaft, which may be a trademark, but i don't have it anymore.

Do you mean when you turn to sharp.. On my 04 Dodge ram1500 in my 4x4, if we turn to sharp it hops a little bit, and it's hard ont he trick but in Canada not much else you can do with our disgusting roads.

10mikeymike -> RE: 2006 H2 Steering (3/7/2007 7:55:11 PM)

On occasion when I back my 05 out of my driveway, it feels as though I don't have any power steering when I put it in Drive and begin to pull forward. This isn't the tires "fighting a slow turn". It's a complete absence of any power assist whatsoever. Naturally, when I take it to the dealer, they can't get it to do it. Hopefully, when I have NO power steering, they'll be able to detect it.

Xtreme -> RE: 2006 H2 Steering (3/15/2007 12:07:55 AM)

I haven't experienced this on my '06 H2 (steering is responsive and problem-free), but I did experience the clunking sensation on my former '00 Ford 'Explorer XLT' (sounded as if something was shifting) whilst moving slowly in reverse with the steering wheel turned sharply in either direction. one post and you're done?  that's it?  no description of what you're not impressed with?  no details to help those that may have experienced the same thing help you pinpoint the problem?  based on what you've shared, i'd say your front wheel will be falling off soon.  but don't worry, it only happens at slow speeds, so any injuries will be minor. . . . . . freakin' canadiennes . . . . .[>:]

HMH2SUT -> RE: 2006 H2 Steering (4/11/2008 7:46:17 AM)

Short Bus.. I have been experienceing loose steering.  I am running 37's so i figured i blew my pitman and idler arms... I called the local auto parts store to check avail. they asked if the pitman arm was 3  or 4 groove. anyone know this?? i removed the skid plate hoping that enough of the shaft would be visible to identify which I have. just to see how much slop I really had while I was under the truck I had My girlfriend turn the wheel. the slope wasnt in the pitman or idlerarm!! yes they are worn and I will replace and add the cognito kit BUT. it seems to me that the slope was in the steering shaft itself. it would turn 3/4 of a turn before putting any movement into the pitman arm..   any suiggestions?? half shaft and steering box first ??? i really want this fixed soon any help would be appreciated.
