This was posted by a guy in Greece who had a kitten under his Bonnet..Sad!

Dear all,

My landlord has three beautiful kittens! They live free in the grounds of a three-story building where we also park the cars. The problem began this past Friday when one of the kittens got into the engine compartment of the Freelander. Without noticing (it was the first time that happened) I started the engine. I heard a terrible braking sound. I opened the hood; the alternator belt snapped…the kitten lying lifeless under the car. I went upstairs to get some towels and to call the vet. When I returned, the kitten was not there; I though the mother cat somehow took it away. Needless to say, I lost ten years of my life. Then I tried to locate, and if necessary to euthanize the poor animal. Next day, Saturday, the kitten was nowhere to be found, only the other two. The Freelander suffered a serious damage. A piece of the snapped alternator-belt slipped into the timing-belt housing and got trapped between the toothed belt and the two camshaft gears (excuse my description but I am not sure how to exactly describe technical terms these in English). The result, two pistons smashed on the valves. This is nothing because next day, Sunday, the kitten is back!!!!. I examined it closely and it seems there are broken fingers (the carpal join in animals is much higher than most people believe). The vet said it might not even necessary to do anything.
Yet it’s not over. Since Monday, all three of theme made the engine their home and playground. Even the one with the broken foot (short memory!). No matter what I do (blowing the horn, knocking on the hood….) the kittens are there. Today, I had to remove the guard under the engine to reach between the radiator and the front grill. All three of them were sitting in the gap looking like prisoners. It is very sweet, and I even took pictures of them. I’m going to upload them for the forum. Yet again, I can’t live like that. This is surreal. The other day I drove about a mile with on of the kittens inside the engine. Something very bad will happen again…
Any idea to keep them safe...and away? Please, help…
