I was pokeing around the H2 today and looked at what it would be like to change my own oil. Doesn't look too easy. It looks like the filter is tucked up tight against the block, perhaps a specialty filter tool is in need? Also getting there looks a little tight. I have Rhino ramps but I'm not sure they will hold the H2 Weight?
Anyone change your own oil?

I used to change my oil when I had a 62 Falcon and a 67 Camaro. Even on my 99 ranger, but there are some cars where it gets really complicated. Anyway, nowadays, I also don't have the time nor the inclination. I just go to Jiffy lube and pay 'em the $24.00 for the oil change and they'll also check and fill the other fluids , check the tires, and vacuum the car for free. Sure beats spending a half hour under the car and getting all dirty, and then having to go dispose of the used oil. :)

I usually go to the quick oil change places also, but figured maybe I'll do the Hummer myself. I get nervouse about the hood opening forward and the oil change guys causing scratches or damage.

i've been thinking about doing my own as well, i just need to figure out the wink-wink-domelight-look-east way to reset the oil change computer so it won't flash at me. will a screwdriver fit for taking off the oil filter? i've used that "specialty tool" in the past, as long as your drip pan is wide enough, it's always worked wonders. i don't trust the 30 minute places either, at least not with the bus.
