I finally bit the bullit and bought a stock unit... it came with the gps antenna and manual, but I need the disc... anyone know where to find one? There are a bunch of GM nav discs on eBay, but I'm not sure which one I need... Also, where do you mount the GPS antenna in the dash?

Hey Ryan, Don't "quote me", but I think you need this, depending on the NAV system you bought:

 Part No.                       Description
15906573           GM NAV DVD 15906573

Has anyone tried to duplicate one of these nav discs. I know it not legal but just wondering if anyone tried. The are $200 on gmnavdisc.com.  Steve

Mounting the antenna - OK, you will need patience and an 18 inch long screwdriver/nutdriver, small hands or a long device with a clamp on the end to hold the antenna while you are attaching it.

First, take off the radio surround and the radio. If you haven't done this, it is pretty easy. Using your fingers in the two accessory outlets, pull up and out on the lower right corner. The whole thing is held in place by 6 or 8 spring clips and once you get a corner out, just work your fingers around until the whole thing unclips.

Disconnect the "flasher" and the 4WD plugs from the back of the panel (get a fingernail under the top of the flasher connector and pull it out, press the bottom of the 4WD connector and pull that off), then swing the whole thing towards the passenger side. It may help putting the car in a gear other than P to give you more room.

Four 7mm screws, two electical connectors and 1 antenna and the old radio is out.

Now shine a flashlight along the left side of the left A/C duct at the front of the car near the underside of the dash are two screw holes  - pretty close to the side of the vent. You need to get the metal plate to which the antenna is attached lined up with and screwed to those two holes.

I taped a screw to the end of my screwdriver, put the plate in the general area where it needs to go then used the screw/driver to guide the plate assembly to the proper hole and voila 2 hours and many expletatives later, we were done !!! If I had a telescoping rod with an alligator clip on the end of it and had an 18" screwdriver to begin with, it would have been a much easier job - but I didn't.

Hope this helps.

Paul

Is the H3 Nav disk the only DVD works with the system? Does anyone know if we can use a different DVD for more detailed mapping?
