Ironically I had the fade out issue with XM but very seldom with Sirius .. But it does take a few secs to get a Sat feed sometimes ... I've been a sirius customer for about 4 years .. I'm VERY biast here LOL! And yep, to each his/her own :-)

WOW! Minutes to change channels!? That has never happened to me! Every once in a while I do get the fade/cut out but obviously with this type of technology .. it will happen ... If that's the kind of problems you have I can't blame you for cancelling, I would too. I wonder why the location would make such a huge difference ... I believe in NJ you should need a north eastern sky just like me ... no clue what the transportation medium is here, microwave? I wouldn't think there would be too much interfearing with that but ... I'm no rocket/sat scientist though I work for em LOL!

Does XM used ground based repeaters!? I believe the technology on the sirius side at least is LOS based, you go under a damn napkin and the planets are alligned just right, it will drop LOL That's to be expected .. Depending on time of day I can get a sigal in my garage, this assuming the Sat is far away enough on the north eastern sky ... but covered areas should not receive a signal ... I've been through the Lincol tunnel enough times and the fact that you make it that far in is pretty damn good!!

Well, I'm gunna answer my own d@mn question here :-) I guess XM has a larger number of ground based repeaters which to me would explain why you're able to get that far in to the Lincoln tunnel before dropping ... XM also uses geostationary satellites, two I believe; vs. Sirius 3 sats in a figure 8 shape orbit stretchin' from the southern tip of south america, west bound almost to Hawaii, and as far north as the northern tip of Canada. I guess based on this I can see why XM could potentially be a bit more reliable than Sirius and maybe stretch a wee bit further in to areas like the one you mentioned ... Now that I'm looking at XM I should've known .. those birds were built by Boeing ... one of our customers :-) I'm 99% sure the tele units on those things are ours *grin* The sirius birds were built by Loral, we don't touch em with a 10 ...err 20 foot pole LOL! Damnit, I should get an XM discount for the contribution here .. hehehehehehe

As an avid music aficionado, my H2's XM1 & XM2 folders are programmed to the following stations; The '60s, The '70s, The '80s, Cinemagic, Watercolors, Audio Visions, Top Tracks, The Groove, Soul Street, and XM165 so that I can listen to Bruce Williams (Lifestyle TalkRadio Network)...with the balance of the presets allotted to those other stations which my wife and son have 'staked their claim' in.
