I have an 2006 H2 with GPS.  It is impossible to add an address or look up a POI once the car is moving.  Does anyone know how to disable this lock-out feature?
Also is it possible to recieve Vorizon cell calls on the Onstar without going through Onstar?

The nav system must receive speed info from the pcm. If its in the form of packets over the obdII bus, then not much can be done, as I think the nav system checks the vin number that way for security. If its just a wire with speed data one it (pulses, voltage, etc) then it could be disconnected. There might be some other hack (button combo, etc), but I dont know of one.

I agree, its a pia, but its gm covering their ass. did you read the owners manual? About 1/2 of it is warnings about every stupid thing you can think of.

You do realize the reason for why it's there right!? LOL!
Maybe ImportKiller has some advice for us here .. Impy!?  Any bypass modules available for the H2's from for example logjam or PAC that you know of!?  I had one (PAC I believe) on my Alpine aftermarket back in the day to disable this feature on the NAV and also allow DVD's played up front while moving ... A must have in my opinion but could see how it could become a safety issue for some people ...

sorry guys...I have been neglecting my responsibilities in this room...my bad.

What you are looking for is what is called a GM navigation bypass. Here is a description of the unit...let me know if this is what you are looking for:

Basically it will allow you to input anything you want anytime you want no matter if the truck is moving or not.

Price is $250 for this unit.

Now moving on to the onstar...YES they make a GM onstar bypass ... here is the description on that:

Is this navigation bypass only good for the H2, or will it work with the H3 NAV system as well?

Yes, thank you kindly.  I'm trying to figure out what "goodies" I will want for the factory NAV system I am going to install.  The unit you mentioned has most of the features I am after, except that it only has 1 auxilary video input usally for a backup camera, which I will be installing.  PAC make a similar unit that has 2 video inputs, but does not have the ability to unlock the address input restriction.  I guess I need to figure out which features are most important before deciding.  Information here has been very helpful.

LHB...I believe you can hook up an additional video switcher that will connect to the one input of the navigation unlock module and wil give you 2 or 3 video inputs. You will just have a switch that you put into position a,b,c to select which device is to be viewed. The nav. unlock module will always play whatever feed it gets into the one video input, the switcher will just decide what unit is actually sending a signal to that line.

you can buy them here...they don't have hummer's listed but they will work.

I had called coastaletech a few weeks ago wondering if the bypass would work on an H3 and I was told that it would work on an H2 and the 06 H3 but not on the 07 H3.  I have called around and haven't been able to find a bypass for the 07 H3.  Someone correct me if I am wrong.  I don't think there is anything out there for the 07 H3 but a few companies are working on it.

Bringing it back up again...

Even though its been a year and a half I wrote coastaletech and asked about my 06 H2 and this is what they said.

Hello. I just stumbled across your site. Very very nice and the module you came up with is simply bad ass. I was wondering if you had one that worked with my 06 Hummer H2 Limited? I have the Navi up front along with 2 factory head rest monitors and a separate DVD player in the center console. I would love for my wife to watch movie up front while others can watch it in the back while I drive. Can you recommend to me what I need please?

Sorry, the 06 H2 is not compatible like the 08 is. The 06 uses a different communication system and radio.

My question is will this GEN5 work or is there another GEN that works better? I like the feature to add a camera which I plan on doing soon. Please be kind to a new GM guy. I come from a Ford background

got another response. apparently we are screwed

Are you guys in the works on one yet for the older style GM units or is there not that much of a demand for them?

Thanks,
Bob

The radio has a lot of limitations so it is not really a candidate for Lockpick style enhancements due to its design. We have some video only units that can be paired with an iPOD interface using the aux in provided for audio to create a multimedia input, but the h2 radio uses a different style of connector inside and is again not really enough demand for a specific adapter, sorry

So how do you run DVD up front and/or unlock the Navi crap while moving?
