That group is from ****. Another group of us, including those two H3's, went last August. Here's the video of the group shortbus mentioned going up LB. Link I'm in the grey H3. There's a bunch more pics and vids on my site. We have another trip planned for April, and there's also a big group going in June.

ORIGINAL: shortbus there are 2 crosses at the base of Lion's Back, and from info our guide gave us, both of those fatal drops involved alcohol impairment. I've heard differing stories on that. Many people say it was a suicide jump, no vehicles even involved. There is however, the carcass of an old Toyota off the right side. The guy tried turning around halfway up and fell off the side. There was also a recent incident of a guy driving a toyota pickup off the side near the bottom and nose-diving from about 30 feet. Alcohol was definitely involved in that one.

Yes, that is Lions Back, in Moab. It's not a hard climb, it's just what you would call "visually impressive". I was going to link a video from work, but we got toned out for something and I had to get off line. quote:

There was also a recent incident of a guy driving a toyota pickup off the side near the bottom and nose-diving from about 30 feet. Alcohol was definitely involved in that one. The stories you've been hearing are bogus.. Two teens were killed, in a Toy at Lions back. But, they were going down the back of lions back, which is a very technical obstical. It's no longer open to the "regular Joe" .. but people still do make the decent from time to time. If you don't know what you are doing, it's very dangerous. They simpley chose the wrong line, and it resulted in the vehicle pitching over and falling on it's side. One kid was outside of it, and tried to "hold" from tipping/sliding any further, and the other was inside. When the Toy flipped over the side of a drop, it flung the boy outside the vehicle over the cliff. The boy driving went over the side, and the vehicle wedged in a crack further up the face of the cliff. Both boys were down at ground level when they were found... and both died. The rough area of where they were found is marked by two crosses. In the vid with the K5 Blazer a guy let his girlfriend drive on her first time "wheeling". He had driven up lions back, and asked her is she wanted to drive down. Unfortunatly, for some reason, to no fault of hers, the vehicle stalled, and they made the decent without power steering or power brakes. When you know the whole story, you really see how impressive her driving was. Maybe it was luck.. but they both walked away.
