jdrew, did you try fitting it into the center console? I have a 5 foot wilson (same as the firestik) mounted on my drivers side rear bumber. I ran the cable inside through the wire harness for the rear taillight and up to the front console. The wire actually runs under all the trim and sill plates and comes out under the drivers seat and up and into the center console. There, I purchased a handheld Midland CB from WalMart. I attached the external antenna wire to it and get power by plugging the adapter into one of the power outlets in the dash. The last time I used it for off roading, everyone was asking me about my setup because it was so crystal clear! just my 2 cents. Mike

I used to work for a company years ago that did comm gear for public safety agencies and we used a ton of mounts very similar to these. However, what works in a cop car and fire truck might not be the best thing for a trail rig. They do take up a lot of room and depending on the eye of the beholder, may not be aesthetically pleasing. Another issue with these things is vibration. Even thought they utilize the seat bolts, there needs to be a 3rd attach point or some type of adjuster……Check out several police supply web sites…..There will be more options there.

Thanks for the suggection.. but the laptop mount may be a bit big for a daily driver... the only negative thing i have found with this h3 is the lack of space to put this damn thing.. lol
