IK I noticed in your pic that you do not have a rear locking diff button...is this also a manual/auto tranny thingy???

no, I don't have the adventure package, I don't have any need for it. I hardly ever used my lockers in my jeep or my tahoe so I figured why spend the extra cash. Once you master BTM you will not need to use the locker all that much, just may have to take a different line once in awhile.

I figured I needed the Adventure package/lockers. Have a 132 acres of woods for deer hunting and the road can get messy and sometimes ya have to make your own road...the luxury package that came with it was the bonus for me...

nah, you don't need a locker for that...lockers are mainly needed when crawling over boulders like out in rubicon, 90% of off roading you won't need the locker, especially with the traction control, the way it works is much much better than having an open diff like most trucks. Once one wheel spins it shuts it down and puts full power to the wheel not spinning....not as good as a locker but in most occasions just as effective.

jdrew, did you try fitting it into the center console?

I have a 5 foot wilson (same as the firestik) mounted on my drivers side rear bumber. I ran the cable inside through the wire harness for the rear taillight and up to the front console. The wire actually runs under all the trim and sill plates and comes out under the drivers seat and up and into the center console. There, I purchased a handheld Midland CB from WalMart. I attached the external antenna wire to it and get power by plugging the adapter into one of the power outlets in the dash. The last time I used it for off roading, everyone was asking me about my setup because it was so crystal clear!

just my 2 cents.
Mike

I used to work for a company years ago that did comm gear for public safety agencies
and we used a ton of mounts very similar to these. However, what works in a cop car
and fire truck might not be the best thing for a trail rig. They do take up a lot of room
and depending on the eye of the beholder, may not be aesthetically pleasing. Another
issue with these things is vibration. Even thought they utilize the seat bolts, there needs
to be a 3rd attach point or some type of adjuster……Check out several police supply
web sites…..There will be more options there.

Thanks for the suggection.. but the laptop mount may be a bit big for a daily driver...

the only negative thing i have found with this h3 is the lack of space to put this damn thing.. lol

you could always make a small box for it and mount it on top of the dash above the radio. Thats what I am doing for my eq's.

Yeah, I kind of thought that was over kill. But they did have some gear for mounting ham equipment
that was a little less intrusive. Just throwing something out there in the hopes that it might spark
an idea.

Good luck with it and keep us posted on your final solution.

If you have that issue, I bet there are 10 others who do as well.
