You have some good points there.  Thank you.  I will print to show my friends.  You seem kind of harsh on me though.  I never accused anyone of trying to get somehting for nothing.  "We are not just trying to get something for nothing!"  I'm just trying to fully understand why we all feel we deserve warranty, in a discussion.  Maybe I don't know how to say it the proper way.  "Jeep, IMO - the jury is still out on you! "  I don't know what you mean?  " IF you went back to the beginning and read ALL the threads/posts on this issue, you would have seen that YES, some were given not only an extended warranty (some engine/drivetrain, some bumper to bumper - how is that fair?), also added perks such as a year or more maintenance, Onstar, etc.."  I don't know where you are comming from on this?  I did read every single post. Only a few people mention getting anything and we have heard nothing more from them.  For the small handfull of people that did say they got something from GM whos to say they arn't just saying that for sh1ts n giggles.  Why would anyone lie and not saying they did but you don't know for sure.  maintenance, Onstar, etc.. sounds off beat to me.  Thanks for your good points.  Yes my H3 is in VIN range I just got it back from head job with scratches on the grill.  I do want an extended warranty.  I guess I just need help understanding.

Jeep, I usually do not get harsh with members here publically or privately unless it is fairly obvious they are here to disrupt and merely "play."  I said the jury is still out on you (for me) in reading many of your posts for one thing, the fact that you came here initially with your "Jeep" moniker and a picture of what appeared to be a jeep (you claimed it was a convertible Hummer.) Nothing against jeeps by any means as I was a 3 time new jeep owner and all 3 served me well! However, most members here have names that are indicative of the Hummer/H3 or their own personal creative names - not Jeep, or FordEscort or FordTruck, etc., etc..(mine happens to be one I have had for 10 years and I don't mess around with half a dozen Internet names.) Your posting style also reminds me of a couple others such as H3Head who was here merely to be disruptive. If I am wrong - my apologies in advance. I also tried to research your posts to see if you had ever posted a pic of your H3 but I see you have made your profile unavailable now.

As for what others have gotten, you apparently missed some threads or posts (as there are many different ones at this point) because I did not just pull "2 years of oil changes or maint, another year of Onstar, etc.. " out of my rear end! And as Forrest Gump said, "That is all I have to say about that!"

Wow.  You are totally misunderstanding just about everything I say.  It's almost like you are putting words in my mouth.  The old avatar I used WAS a convertible H3 chopped by some car shop.  You can find it by doing a search.  I am NOT here to "disrupt" but to simply get some insight on all this.  Instead I feel insulted.  I thought my questions were pretty simple and people could have discussion.  FORUM.  I'm getting YELLED at for asking questions?  "As for what others have gotten, you apparently missed some threads or posts (as there are many different ones at this point) because I did not just pull "2 years of oil changes or maint, another year of Onstar, etc.. "  I am saying that sounds far fetched that GM would do such a thing.  Im not saying you made that up.  I have read ALL posts.  Brings me back to my original ?  Why do I (me) feel I should get an extended warranty?  " LawWyfe - Frankly, when I began with this, I did not expect anything more - UNTIL I saw others had gotten more!"   Basically we are in the same boat.  I understand people are worried they will have this issue past warranty.  I was just hoping people would give me insight (wrong word prolly),
If you would like a picture of my H3 I will put one up as soon as I figure out how.  For now I will put my H3 as my avatar.
Most everyone here is real nice and I'm one of the nicest people around..  We have joked around and laughed.  Now I just feel degraded and insulted.  I came here for some help.  What a great way to wake up.  Now I get to go to the doctor.  (In my H3 w/ scratched grill)   p.s.  I wont post anymore your right.

Awwww now Jeep, get your heart off your sleeve and and some thicker skin, then reread that I also posted an "apology in advance if I was grossly incorrect." We all have opinions, they are not always right (I will be the 1st to admit that when I discover that I am INcorrect) and as I always like to say - we know what they say about opinions!

Jeep..if your are able to post a picture in your avatar..then one in the main text box is easier...You have to sound believeable when you say you don't know how..

Let's see some pictures of your H3 and those damn scratches on the grille...

Take a picture of your H3, then save it to a folder on your harddrive, then click on the words below the text box where you type your post in "Click here to upload!" then browse your file on your harddrive and up load it here.Check the box "embed picture in post"....640 x 480 is a good size

The pic that Jeep first had as his avatar was a concept version of the Hummer H4.  I believe this was it:

Hey Sarah sweetie..

I was thinking about your problem still...Before I go on..have they satisified you in anyway yet?

Anyways...I'm thinking all this time, since your problem started back in November 2006 and still nothing you can rest assured on is crazy!!!!...I was giving GM the benifit of a doubt and always hoped they'd stand by their loyal costomers, but I'm seeing things differently now because of your situation...I know for a fact these people that did get warranties and extras because of this issue with the Heads on certain VIN range models of the H3 are happy campers..but their issue came up early in this situation and GM probably thought a few here, a few there and the whole thing would blow over...But now as more and more people are coming out of the woodwork with this problem, it's overwhelming GM and they are probably losing money and dare I say crediblity, especially with me and I'm sure many others..If you don't get a fair resolve and or GM doesn't do something premtivly for the rest of  us that still are waiting for this time bomb occur...and  perhaps most likely out of the orginal warranty period..I will be selling my GM product and never return to buy anything again..All I'm asking for since I don't put on enough miles on and the yerars will evolve first..I don't want to have to worry about it past that time frame...IS a simple letter and assurance from them extending the warranty at least on the engine to 100,000 miles or 7 years would be fair IMO..

I'll say it again..GM better get their act together on this or they will be losing a lot of repeat customers for the 08 models and beyond..I know at this point I will not buy another POS GM until they show me some good faith efforts..

Denny, NO THEY HAVE NOT! I am 4 months into this nonsense of numerous calls, promises, letters and broken promises, more promises yet to be broken again. They have requested that I send my original letter back to them before they will do anything else for me (also stated that the original letter must be canceled.) I have informed then that I will not be returning the original letter, but a copy of it and then I will await the promised return call for next week with some answers.  I have also informed them that if I do not have something satisfactory in writing and very soon, I am proceeding to "plan B!" Being that my attorney has a copy of that letter and we will proceed forward with alternative action. The big mistake made here was in GM not being consistent with treatment of folks with this issue AND making promises both telephonically and in writing to me that were not kept.

I believe your theory is correct in the way people were handled in the beginning and how they are handled now - it became too costly for GM. I am told it is on a "case by case basis" now.  If this is not resolved, you can better believe I, nor my family will ever purchase another GM product again! We are a close knit family and we all purchase 2 new vehicles per family (that is 3 families) every few years...and mostly GM products! (Yes, we throw a jeep or something else into the mix on occasion - but we mostly own GM products.) At the moment we have a chevy corvette and a Hummer, the parents purchase new high $ caddies ($50K-$60K range) every 3-4 years before warranty is out -  You tell me, would this not be a loss to GM to lose our business?

At the very least, for those of you who fall into that vin range, a letter stating that the head problem would be taken care of free of charge (treated as a warranty repair!!) should it occur after warranty is out - would be a good faith gesture on GM's part!!!

Yes,  this is exactly what I'm hoping GM will do for me and others in the same VIN range...

I hear those Lincoln Town Cars are really nice and hold up well and are greatly supported by FORD....Hmmmm wonder What Ford has to offer in the SUV linage..I'm sure something I won't have to worry about breaking down with anything major like an engine after warranty

Well Denny, while I was never a fan of them previously, I have a couple friends who have the FORD Expedition several years now - they love them, have never had any major problems with them, and I know they will pull the heck out of boat because they both do it all the time! True dat aint no Hummer...but sometimes I wonder if "coolness" vs reliability (and added power) is worth it?   As for the caddies...may be Lexus time...

Same conversation, different results however it seems

If you haven't done it you should call Hummer Customer assistance ( 1-866-HUMMER6) and request the 100K warrenty on the engine. Sewie advised me to do and it was easy to do, two phone calls in two days and as advertised the extended warrenty paperwork came within a few weeks.

The customer service person bragged on and on about how GM was going to stand beside me and help me out. I did request the warrenty be extended to the entire powertrain but they were not willing to go that far.

This is the first American made new car I have owned since 1981 and am dissapointed with the problems. Lets face it, building cylinder heads is not exactly a new thing for GM.

I had a phone survey from GM a few weeks ago and I LET THEM HAVE IT about the cylinder head problems. I was told the comments went directly to GM. Maybe it will do some good.

Just call them up and tell them you are aware of the engine problems and that they have given others the extended warrenty and you want them to stand beside you all the way and give you the extended warretnty too like they have done so many others. After all you don't want to be on your own when the check engine light comes on at 50,100 miles.
