When I bought my H3 2mths ago...The dealer said I had to registered it as a truck, because of the weight, and would have to have a weight class 2 sticker, H24fun Is a friend of mine and owns a H2 and she doesn't have one on, so she's really courious...Any feed backs..by the way I live in Pennsylvania. Maybe all states are different.

Just talked to Penn Dot myself and they said in The state of Pennsylvania, If your Hummer weights more then 5,000lbs it must be registered as a truck.

That's weird....your H3 is registered as a truck and my H2 isn't??? I don't know what's right or wrong...but that's just strange

where both trucks registered through the dealer? Or did one of you register it yourself? If you register it yourself you can register a Mack dump truck as a car...the idiots working behind the counter don't know and don't care.

When I bought the H2, the dealer told me we could just transfer the plates off my car. He said that it does not have to have a truck plate.

My parents also have a H3 and don't have a truck plate.  Although I did get a weight class sticker back with my registration

Mine was registered through the dealer when I bought it 2 and a half months ago. It has "Texas Truck" issued on the license plate.

Each state is different about what they classify as a truck. A Suburban qualifies as a truck in almost every state because of its load capacity, i.e. Gross weight rating, but a 16 passenger van with the same load capacity qualifies as a passenger vehicle even if it only has two seats in it. Most of the time you can license something for a lower weight class, but if you ever get into a situation where you are pulling a trailer, or loaded down with stuff and a saavy lawman sees you, you may get stopped, wieghed and the cited for being overweight.

First of all your H3 does not weight 5000lbs
Second every state is different and dealers do make mistakes on one of my 4runners they tried that i told them no because it consider a car with 4 doors they change it.
Plus if you have truck plate in mass you have to pay each year f that.

Tina, I  live in PA too and I never heard of that.  Not saying your wrong at all.  Maybe the dealer that I leased it from did mine wrong.  By the way, what part of PA are you from?  I would like to check you... I mean your rig out.
