Unfortunately, I'm one of the sorry souls that got my H3 without the DVD package. I just went to an auto stereo place to get pricing on a DVD deck (Alpine IVA-W200) and (2) widescreens for the headrest, came out to around $2200. Anyway the guy told me that I would lose my sub because he couldn't intergrate it into the new system. The only way would be to pick up another amp ($300) or pick up an enclosure. With 2 active kids, every inch of rear cargo space is like gold... Has anyone installed an aftermarket system, and were still able to use their monsoon sub?

the installer shouldn't even need to touch your factory deck if you don't want. Add a DVD player to the headrest monitors and play it through the radio using the FM modulator that most dvd players have built into them. I have a dvd player in my passenger side sun visor, fold it down, load the dvd and your done.

...as my factory-installed Hummer DVD/CD/MP3/JPEG system isn't even tied into my OEM Nav/XM/AM/FM/CD in-dash stereo system. It's a totally separate unit which resides within the center console with screens built into the back of both front headrests. Audio can be achieved via two RF headsets or transmitted via the factory-installed FM Modulator unit which also resides within the front center console (next to the DVD unit), which will then utilize the vehicle's BOSE system to play the audio signal.  The only additional thing tied into my in-dash system is an integrated rear color camera back-up system which displays on the Nav screen when the H2's gearshift selector is placed into reverse.
