I just wanted to hear the opinions off my bro's . Just had a patient that complimented my H2. He asked me if I had ever taken it offroad and I told him not yet. He then told me that if I do to be very careful that nothing breaks ar that I don't get stuck because the're not made to do so. He said that the H1 is the only Hummer that is truely capable and that the H2 and especially the H3 are simply for show. He said that he's an authority because he builds and modifies 4 wheel vehicle for offroading. He then mentioned that the best stock 4 wheeler is a Toyota 4 runner. I didn't know what to say, so I said nothing. But I do disagree with him.

Just by what you see on this forum, he's full of poop! From what I have read and heard, the Hummer line has one of the best four wheel drive set ups out there.

Think about it this way Joe... opinions are like assholes... everybody has them, some are just bigger than others!! lol, besides if I had an H2 all I would be thinking about the entire time when the guy was rambling about his qualifications is "up yours little trucks, my front seats have more leather than you can scrape together in your entire truck baahaahaha"

ORIGINAL: importkiller he's a moron!! the H2 is the most capable off road truck made out of the factory in certain situations. Sure the shorter wheelbase of the Jeep rubicons will give it an advantage in certain conditions but that about all it has over the H2. The h2 that the Hall family drives to victory in pretty much EVERY race they enter has a stock suspention and drivetrain!!! The only real change they made was to install remote resiviour(sp?) shocks. Theres a complete article in one of my off road mags, I was shocked that all the hummers they race was pretty much in stock trim. Well Said!

Well for his statement about the yota being the most capable I dont believe so... the only thing they got over a H1 is ability to fit into tighter trails. I do believe the yota is a very capable rig but in all honestly I believe the H1 is more capable that is why I bought one... As for the H2 not ment for offroad its a true and untrue statement... the main idea of the H2 is be able to make a more practicle and affordable vehicle for the general public, and to do this they did alot of cut backs in the offroading area and used alot of stuff from their other vehicles... So yea it is a beefed up rig that is capable of offroading but it has alot of parts in it not really made with the idea of offroading especially not at that weight so yea with the H2 you have to watch out about breaking things etc... but my friend owns an H2 and he abuses it... but then again its in the shop all the time. So yea I know I am hard to understand... hell sometimes I have troubles trying to understand myself but to sum it all up the H2 is a capable rig to do alot of things offroad but watch out for breakage.

I think the guy was just patronizing you because he feels inadequate. I'm sure most H2 owners (me included) don't fully understand what these machines are capable of, so if a rabid 4x4er starts to rattle off lingo then the urban driver is going to have to backpedal or stand firm. Sounds like jealousy to me. "With its high ground clearance, protective underbody plates, and low gearing, the H2 is capable of climbing over a 16-inch-high (0.4 m) vertical wall. A massive truck frame and slightly wider-than-average track may offer stability against overturning compared to some of the more common light truck SUVs, although objective tests have not been performed by the government or other outside parties due to its specialised vehicle class. The H2 is also capable of fording 20" of water, traversing a 40% side slope, ascending/descending a 60% grade, and towing 6,700lbs."

His business is modifing vehicles for the sport of off roading. There is no balance in what he does, it's all about off road. The 4-Runner is probably better out of the factory, but then again so is an ATV. H2 is about more than shear off road use. Ask him which rig he uses to tow the Toyota back home. I don't disagree with his point though.

When people tell me truck is for H1 wannabies (which is hilarious bc a have an H1 and the H2 is just a much more comfortable daily driver), or isn't as good as a jeep, toyota, or some other car when they've never even driven my car off road, I usually don't even argue because they're usually just jealous and won't admit their wrong so it's much funnier making them mad by just acting like the "evil sterotypical hummer owner" that we all are deep down here's a few of my favorite lines for situations like these: "Mine's bigger" "I got such good milage today. You know i actually broke into the 8's!!!" "I didn't want to waste gas so I drove in the HOV lane by myself to avoid all that stop and go" "When you park your car in the garage does it go 'is it, is it in yet?'" ...and finally if that doesn't make them mad, driving over their car will.
