Tuesday?,,,That's pretty quick...some here have had to wait two and three weeks on the parts...GM must be getting their Sh!t together now on this issue..Good luck and let us know how it turns out and see if you can get a detailed repair worksheet.

Not sure if I am doing this right as I just joined I stumbled across this forum while doing some research on head/valve probs in the H3. Add me to the list of H3 "head cases!" Let me start off with I LOVE MY little Hummer! I have had her almost 6 mos and approx. 6K miles on her and she has run great....UNTIL.... I drove her 2000K miles to the mountains a few days ago and about halfway there, she began to run very jerky and roughly when idling. Ran fine while driving tho, and no idiot lights ever came on. Coincidentally this all happened around the same time I receive my OnStar email report which said "Emissions issue." I was in the middle of nowhere up in the mountains and she got me around and back home safely again!

Much to my dismay - today the dealership tells me, "cylinder head" probs and at least a week to fix! I suppose I should consider myself lucky after reading several posts that said weeks without for others. I cannot get too upset with them, as they offered me a car and it is under warranty...BUT!!! This is a bunch of you know what to happen to a nearly new vehicle! Now, my question is this - will they replace the parts with more parts that will go bad?? Or is this an issue that they have found and corrected or improved??? Any words of wisdom or added experiences from anyone for after the fact?

Hi Wyfie,

From what I've been hearing lately, is that GM is suppliing the dealers with customers with this problem, a brand new and improved head...I agree it does seem ridiculous that these engines ever stayed on the assembly line and one has to ask about QC..How did they mix up putting soft valve seats in an engine that uses unleaded?..Hardened Valve seats are for unleaded engines...Somebody screwed up big time.

I hope if mine is going to develop this problem..it happens sooner and not later...Plus I have all the confidence in my dealer to fix it right if it does happen..But I will be also be insisting on an extended warranty, at least for the engine.

Hi there Dennis!

WOW, guess I should have read all the posts before I posted to begin with. (I was too lazy to read 4 pages worth LOL) I have just finished reading them all and must say I am feeling rather uneasy at this point. I have loved her so much up til now. I must say she did take those narrow winding gravel/mud mountain roads with great ease and never once did I have to throw her into low!

BTW, I was told there are 5 H3's sittin in line ahead of me for repair! I guess this is just an issue that only time will tell..I for sure will try for an extended warranty now! We will see how the dealership is about being timely and precise in repairs and getting my gal back to me.

And one last thing Mr. Administrator Denny or Mr. Moderator or whomever...is there any way these 2 threads about the valve/head issues can be combined, since the posters seem to be pretty much the same people and the issue is the same - so that no one misses anything and we don't have to go to 2 separate threads??? Purty Please?

See my experience on class action suits on the other Head and Valve thread. It there is a problem with the H3 and with all the H3 websites and the net the truth will come out in a powerful way. When I read about a class action suit on my Ford there were no web or net but today i think manufacturers can not get away with defective products as long as they use to. I was surprised how easy it is to join a class action suit and they really work. I could not believe I got a check in the mail one. Read the post about that and my Toyota defective head design in my FJ40.

Aargh! This weekend the head situation came again on my H3!

The truck is now at the dealers -- again -- to get this fixed. I assume they are repacing the head again. This time they have the parts in stock, so they expect to finish by Thursday. I called GM and opened another case. I have to say -- I have lost faith in this vehicle. I love the H3, but I need something I can depend on.
