No did not touch torsion bars ... Would rather not mess with anything. So I guess it is safe to say that 285/75/16 won't have any issues.. does changing the tire size to a wider, taller tire have any other pros besides a lot better look to the h3?

The factory says not to use chains on any tire that is larger than 265-75-16. I would think about getting 315-75-16 tires if i was going to replace the 265's. Actually that is what i did, I got the BGF MT in 315 and the fit fine with a totally stock suspension. To me even my stock 285's looked too small for the H3's large wheel wells.

That extra room is for when you actually go offroad and is great. I use it all with my 1 inch shorter 285's. Alot of other vehicle owners would love to have that much clearance. View the large picture and you will see. Thumbnail Image

There is another issue when you go to these tires. The 265/75R 16 has a 30 psi cold reading the 285/75R16 has a 35 psi cold reading now this may or may not set the check tire pressure lite on. This is because you have low limit and a high limit for psi reading which may be outside of the 265/75 tire range. You need to set this up with a tech 2 scan tool for the correct tire being used. It may be fine but if it is not go to the dealer and have them set it up for you. You are also suppose to reprogram the PCM for a different tire size also. Steve quote:

I'm beginning to lose faith in the tps myself. With the colder weather, they were going off constantly..on..off.on..off.. depending on what the road was like. I finally pulled up all the reccomended settings and it said 35 psi...I checked and I had 4 at 34 and 1 at 33.5 Now I know it was technically "low" but I think 1.5 psi below reccomended is still safe... It would be incredibly helpful if it told me which tire it was complaining about too.

I am considering splitting the difference and going with a 295-75-16. It is 33.4" high, with .3" extra width over the Adventure size. My thinking is they won't rob as much power from the engine (as a 35"), yet they will still be a little bigger. I am considering the Terra Grappler by Nitto... but I have been a fan of BFG All Terrains ever since having them on a Toyota pickup I had a few years back.
