I bought myself a H3 for xmax.  I love it to death.  More than my girlfriend.  ooops /slap/slap.  It's so much like my Jeep.  The front windshield, steering wheel, just like a bigger more comfortable Jeep.  Tuesday put some gas in my H3 drove down the road and at a stoplight it started shaking real bad, splattering my coffee all over the console.  I thought maybe I had some bad gas.  Went back to a gas station and topped off.  My plan was yesterday to drive that tank of gas out and refill with something better.  Well I didnt get far before my engine light came on.  I pressed the Off-Star button and they told me my engine was misfiring.  Please tell me I dont have Head\Valve problem.  Im planning on driving to Chicago next week.  Could bad gas do this?  Maybe bad spark plug?  I want a locking gas cap.  Maybe some punk kids put something in my tank?  lata

No why would you go and do a thing like that?  Just get the head replaced and see if you can get an extended warranty on your engine.  Even though the head on some H3s has a defect...it's still a very good vehicle.

My check engine light turned off today by itself.  It still idles a little rough though.  BTW my avatar is an H3 convertible not a Jeep.  Dennis how do I PM you?  Sorry I love Hummers and I love Jeeps.  And that convertible Hummer is pretty cool.  I tried to add a bigger picture of the convertible H3 but my dumb computer.... I dont know how to do it the right way either I guess

Status: offline 		Jeep, I have heard of this happening.  I know someone who is currently waiting for the parts to come in..her light flashed on and then went off and hasn't been on again (she is driving it nearly a month now as she waits for parts)

You wouldn't notice a BIG loss in power from just one cylinder losing compression.  You will notice some power loss though.  I'd suggest you take it to the dealer if you haven't already.

Status: offline 		Some loss of power..depends on how bad the valve is leaking ...

To reitierate the problem that we are faced with:

It is bad or wrong design Valve Seats...that causes loss of compression and misfiring.

As the fix ..GM is replacing the WHOLE HEAD.

Status: offline 		I don't know anything about cars.  They said they have to take head off tranfer rockers?, cams, adjusters and bunch of things to the new head.  Are these parts of a new head?  Im lost lol.  Nevermind, it would be a waste of time, I know nothing.  I'm not worried, the guys at this dealer are great.  It may even run better than it ever has eh?

Status: offline 		It was just after 2000 miles but I think its been idling rough for like 500 miles.  I thought maybe was the cold weather.

Yes I'm sure they will tranfer those upper components, along with the Injectors and sparkplugs
