Hello all. I've been reading through this forum for the past several days now, and I've discovered that this is definitely the place to obtain some valuable information, as well as share an affinity for one's love of the Hummer vehicles. So, I've selected a forum name which I thought was appropriate for the Hummer H2, and I decided to become a member this evening. Having test driven a pre-owned Hummer H2 at our local Hummer dealer a few days ago, I'm now currently awaiting the final word from a prospective buyer of my Corvette. The sale of this vehicle will allow me the opportunity to finally be able to purchase a Hummer H2...if I can locate one at a 'good deal'. I would like to know what I should look-out for when considering the purchase a pre-owned Hummer H2. From what I've read so far, it appears to be in my best interest to purchase a 2004 or newer model. Since the SUV would fit my requirements better than the SUT, that is the style that I have decided to go with. Also, I believe that the Luxury package (leather heated seating with a third row seat and tubular assist steps) would suit our requirements much better than the Adventure package, although I'm not overly concerned about actually having chrome trim and chrome wheels. Although most of our driving will be 'on road', an occasional 'off road' jaunt would now certainly be possible, and I'm also somewhat interested in the air suspension set-up unless it is in fact unnecessary for my conventional driving requirements. Any input would be greatly appreciated...thanks for your help. Xtreme

Not a big deal to some, but I LOVE the Ebony!! Just make sure you SEE the difference before committing, or you may KICK yourself (or spend over $5000 re-doing your interior ) later!! LUX package is always a plus, though it comes with the Chrome package as well. As far as the air suspension, unless you regularly tow toys, not a biggie. I have it and haven't had to use it in 2 1/2 years. I'm not a big fan of buying vehicles on eBay, but there are alot of SWEET deals, as long as you can find one locally to check it out first. GOOD LUCK on selling the Vette.

Thanks for the help guys. I've looked at both leather trim options, and I too am rather partial to the ebony...having black leather in the 'Vette and dark gray leather in the Chrysler. I won't, however, 'rule out' the wheat colored leather trim...if the deal was 'right'. I know that it's usually best to purchase the newest model that I can afford, but are there any model years which I should stay away from; i.e., certain model years which have had more problems than others? I too am not comfortable purchasing a vehicle via eBay, as I've heard too many horror stories from many Buyers who had been taken advantage of; i.e., vehicle looked great in the photos (which were no doubt touched-up in PhotoShop), but were actually 'not as expected' when finally seen 'in person'. So, since I don't want to purchase a brand new model, a pre-owned H2 is what I've been considering. I've been checking the pre-owned inventories of several dealers, yet it appears that Carmax has the better deals. I've never dealt with Carmax, and also don't really like the idea that they're about 100 miles away...in case I require warranty service, as most dealers will treat you like a 'black sheep' whenever one presents them with a warranty claim if you didn't purchase the vehicle directly from them.
